Staci Keanan recalled a thoughtful Christmas gift, Christine Lakin spoke about Somers’s example of kindness and success, and Angela Watson remembered a mother-daughter pageant performance.
What the cast remembered about Suzanne Somers
Staci Keanan: a Christmas gift that showed thoughtfulness
Keanan recalled that Somers gave her a pair of Prada cashmere tights for Christmas. The gift’s label was glamorous, but its practical purpose stayed with Keanan: Somers told her the tights would keep her warm under a long skirt. “Suzanne gave the most beautiful, thoughtful gifts,” Keanan said, adding that she still has them. She remembered Somers as someone of “immense style and glamour” and said, “She will be missed.” Fox News Digital reported Keanan’s recollection.
Christine Lakin: kindness and achievement could go together
Lakin recalled watching Somers on television when she was young and later admiring her as a successful businesswoman. She described Somers as grounded and generous, and said her example mattered to a young woman working in Hollywood: “you can be kind and you can be generous and you can be successful and all of those things don’t have to be mutually exclusive.” Lakin also remembered Somers as sweet and loving, with a big heart. Her comments were reported by Fox News Digital.
Angela Watson: a mother-daughter pageant on set
Watson, who played Somers’s daughter Angela on the series, remembered a pageant performance they did together, tap-dancing and singing. Watson called the experience “the highlight of my career,” according to Fox News Digital.

Who attended the ’90s Con reunion?
The reunion report names Patrick Duffy, Staci Keanan, Angela Watson, Christine Lakin, Christopher Castile, Jason Marsden, and Sasha Mitchell among those at the Step by Step gathering at Hartford’s Connecticut Convention Center. The published attendee list does not establish that every cast member was there. DoYouRemember? described the gathering as the first reunion since Somers’s death; Fox News Digital called it the cast’s first reunion in years.
Somers’s place in Step by Step
The sitcom debuted in 1991 and ran for seven seasons, ending in 1998. Somers and Duffy played Carol Foster and Frank Lambert, single parents who fell in love, married, and brought their families together. The Associated Press obituary noted that Somers returned to network television in the 1990s with the show on ABC’s youth-oriented TGIF lineup. She died at 76 in October 2023 after living with breast cancer for more than 23 years, the AP reported.
