Steely Dan and Steve Winwood played Perth as part of their 2011 Australian tour, but the date and venue in the advance announcement differ from those in post-event reporting. The tour was advertised for 19 October at Sir James Mitchell Park; a review published after the concert identifies the performance as 18 October at Challenge Stadium.
When did Steely Dan and Steve Winwood play Perth?
The strongest located evidence for the concert that took place is The West Australian’s review, published on 20 October 2011. It identifies the show as Tuesday, 18 October, at Challenge Stadium. The Steely Dan tour archive also lists a Perth date at Challenge Stadium on 18 October (The West Australian review; Steely Dan tour archive).

Why do some listings give a different date and venue?
A Day on the Green’s tour announcement, published 15 May 2011, advertised the Perth concert for Wednesday, 19 October, at Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth. A West Australian preview published on 18 May repeated those details, so the original listing circulated before the event (A Day on the Green announcement; The West Australian preview).
Those advance listings conflict with the post-event review and tour archive. The available accounts do not explain the discrepancy, so it is best not to infer whether the date or venue changed. When describing the performance itself, the review’s date and venue are the clearest evidence of what happened.

How the Perth concert fit the Australian tour
Steely Dan and Steve Winwood were billed together, with Winwood described as the tour’s special guest. In its report published 20 October, the promoter said the Australian tour had opened with the artists’ first Perth concert. It also quoted local MIX 94.5 FM breakfast host Fred Bottica: “We shared a religious experience last night.” (A Day on the Green post-show report.)

The West Australian review describes Winwood’s set as drawing on several stages of his career: the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith and his solo work. It mentions “Higher Love,” a solo-era song, as part of the performance. These were Winwood’s songs and career references, not Steely Dan material.

The concert’s historical significance is also reflected in its conflicting paper trail: the advertised event details survive in the advance announcement and preview, while the post-show review records the date and venue associated with the performance.
