At launch, the drinks came only in venti size and Starbucks reported 140–205 mg of caffeine. They are distinct from the later Energy Refreshers lineup, which has its own flavors and a separate published caffeine figure.
What Starbucks launched in June 2024
Starbucks announced handcrafted Iced Energy beverages for U.S. stores beginning June 25, 2024, and described them as year-round offerings at the time. The two core flavors were Melon Burst, combining melon and cucumber flavors with Passion Tango tea, and Tropical Citrus, combining passionfruit and citrus flavors with green tea. The announcement is available from Starbucks.
Alongside those drinks, Starbucks announced a limited-time Frozen Tropical Citrus Iced Energy with Strawberry Puree, offered exclusively through the Starbucks app. The year-round description applied to the core drinks as Starbucks presented them in 2024; it does not establish that any particular flavor is available at every store now.
How much caffeine was in the original drinks?
In its 2024 launch announcement, Starbucks reported 140–205 mg of caffeine for the original Iced Energy and Frozen Iced Energy drinks. They were offered only in venti (24 fl oz) size. Starbucks compared the range with the caffeine content of a grande (16 oz) Starbucks Cold Brew. This is the launch-era figure for those venti drinks, not a caffeine range for Starbucks’ later Energy Refreshers.

How the later Energy Refreshers differ
Starbucks’ current Energy Refreshers page describes a later menu lineup, not a renaming of the 2024 drinks. The page lists three Energy Refreshers—Mango Strawberry, Strawberry Açaí and Mango Dragonfruit—and three drinks identified as Energy Drinks: Mango Dream, Pink and Dragon. Starbucks says the Energy Refreshers provide up to 125 mg of caffeine per grande, with caffeine sourced from nature, and are an excellent source of vitamin B. The caffeine figures are not directly comparable: one is a reported range for venti drinks, while the other is an “up to” claim for a grande. The sizes and wording differ, and the later page does not revise the 2024 launch figure.

Why Starbucks introduced a later energy lineup
In an April 6, 2026 article, Starbucks senior vice president Erin Silvoy described Energy Refreshers as part of an effort to build an afternoon occasion around customizable refreshment and energy. She wrote: “This week’s launch of the new Energy Refreshers expands our refreshment offerings with a customizable energy option crafted in a way only Starbucks can deliver – with caffeine derived from nature, no added synthetic additives and now with B vitamins.” Starbucks also said FY25 U.S. company-operated stores recorded $11 billion in sales after 11:00 a.m. and more than 70% tea sales growth since 2021. Those are company-stated figures and context for the later launch, rather than performance measures of the 2024 Iced Energy drinks. Read Starbucks’ April 6, 2026 announcement.

The original launch is useful context for the Iced Energy name, but its 2024 menu and availability statements should not be treated as a live store menu. Starbucks’ current page gives the published details for the later Energy Refreshers lineup; it does not guarantee that every listed drink is stocked at every location. Check the Starbucks app or local menu for what is currently orderable at a particular store.
