Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair survive and settle on Pabu; Echo continues helping Rex protect clone fugitives. In the epilogue, an older Omega leaves to join the Rebellion, with Hunter’s blessing. Tech remains dead.
What happens at Mount Tantiss?
The finale brings Clone Force 99 back to Mount Tantiss, the Imperial facility where Dr. Hemlock has been studying children with high M-count readings and pursuing Project Necromancer. Omega releases the captive children by unleashing the Zillo Beast, while Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, and Echo try to reach them inside the facility.
Hemlock’s CX operatives ambush the group. Omega, Nala Se, Echo, and Emerie help the Batch evade the CX conversion process and get the children out. Nala Se stays behind to destroy her research, sacrificing herself and bringing Hemlock’s immediate operation to an end. Omega’s genetic contribution is no longer in the Empire’s immediate grasp.
What happens to each member of Clone Force 99?
| Character | Where they end up |
|---|---|
| Hunter | Survives and settles on Pabu. In the epilogue, he accepts that Omega is ready to make her own choices. |
| Wrecker | Survives and retires on Pabu with Hunter and Crosshair. |
| Crosshair | Survives, reunites with the group, and retires on Pabu after rejecting his Imperial allegiance and conditioning. |
| Echo | Survives and continues working with Captain Rex to protect clones seeking freedom. |
| Tech | Remains dead. His sacrifice in Season 2 is not reversed. |
| Omega | Survives, grows up, and eventually leaves Pabu to join the Rebellion. |
Is Tech really dead?
Yes. Tech’s death remains final in the series finale; the story does not reveal that he survived or bring him back. Voice actor Dee Bradley Baker described Tech’s end as a sacrifice that saved the mission and his team. The finale acknowledges the loss without taking another core member from the squad.

Head writer Jennifer Corbett said the creative team wanted a more hopeful ending after Tech’s loss and did not want another member of the Batch to “fall behind.” That choice lets the surviving squad reach the peaceful life they had been fighting for.
Why does Omega leave Pabu?
In the time-jump epilogue, Omega is older and ready to leave the island to join the Rebellion. Hunter, now aging, does not try to keep her home: he accepts that she is prepared to choose her own path. Her departure is not a rejection of the family. It is the result of a family that gives her room to become her own person.

Baker called Omega “the moral compass, the center, and the push that moves the story forward.” Her decision completes the series’ shift from a story about soldiers defined by war to one about family, freedom, and the possibility of a life beyond military service.
What is Project Necromancer, and does the finale explain Palpatine’s return?
Project Necromancer is the Empire’s effort to use cloning research in connection with M-count children. The finale destroys Hemlock’s work at Mount Tantiss, but that does not mean the wider Imperial cloning effort is permanently erased. The ending’s connection to the later cloning program referenced in The Mandalorian is an interpretation of the on-screen chronology: the series shows Hemlock’s operation collapsing, not every later development that leads toward Palpatine’s return.

So the finale connects The Bad Batch to the broader story of Imperial cloning without resolving every detail of Palpatine’s resurrection in The Rise of Skywalker.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why does the ending focus on civilian life?
The Batch began as soldiers whose identities and purpose were tied to fighting. Their ending gives Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair a chance to live without another battle defining them, while Echo carries on the work of helping clones escape Imperial control. Corbett said the writers drew on the real-world experience of veterans who no longer have a war to fight. The series closes the family’s immediate story while leaving room for other stories in the wider Star Wars timeline.
