Fans are asking Disney and Lucasfilm to renew The Acolyte and continue its story, but the petitions and campaign pages do not mean the series has been renewed. A 2026 report described renewed fan calls after the canceled show briefly appeared in Disney+’s top ten; the sources reviewed do not show that Lucasfilm or Disney reversed the cancellation.
What the petition asks for
The Change.org petition, titled “Renew the Acolyte,” asks Disney and Lucasfilm to bring the series back and continue its story. Its petitioners say the show helped some fans feel seen and welcome in the Star Wars franchise. That is their stated reason for supporting renewal, not evidence that all viewers share the view.

The petition also points supporters toward a coordinated letter-writing effort and uses hashtags including #RenewTheAcolyte and #SaveTheAcolyte. These are campaign requests and slogans, not official announcements from Lucasfilm.
How the Save The Acolyte campaign suggests fans can act
The campaign site presents the effort as broader than signing one petition: it encourages supporters to contact Lucasfilm and share fan-created material. Its email campaign page urges fans to “take action and show Lucasfilm how much The Acolyte means to us!” That wording belongs to the campaign, not the studio.

Has Disney+ or Lucasfilm renewed the series?
The material available for this article does not establish a renewal. GamesRadar+ reported on April 28, 2026, that fans renewed their calls after The Acolyte briefly returned to Disney+’s top ten. The report attributed the April 22 ranking to FlixPatrol. It suggested autoplay following episodes of Maul – Shadow Lord might have helped bring viewers to the show, but that was a proposed explanation, not a confirmed cause.
The ranking indicates a brief moment of visibility on the streaming chart; it does not by itself establish a reversal of the cancellation or a new season order. The campaign’s request for “The Acolyte Season 2” describes what supporters want, not confirmed production plans.

What the audience numbers do—and do not—show
Lucasfilm said in a March 21, 2024 StarWars.com announcement that the series’ trailer received 51.3 million views in its first 24 hours, calling it a record for a digital-only trailer launch for a Disney+ series. That is a promotional trailer-view figure. It is not a count of petition signatures, a measurement of full-episode viewing, or proof of support for renewal.
No reliable current signature total was established for the petition. Because the count on a live petition page can change, an older number circulating in search results or social posts should not be presented as current without a dated, verifiable count.

Context: the series’ Disney+ launch
Lucasfilm announced The Acolyte’s Disney+ launch for June 5, 2024. Its launch announcement described a two-episode premiere and a story in which a Jedi Master investigates a crime spree. That launch information provides context for the series the petitioners want continued; it does not change the current status of the renewal campaign.
