Lucasfilm’s official StarWars.com cast announcement names Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams for Star Wars: Starfighter. The official pages differ on one additional name: a Walt Disney Company announcement from the same day includes Simon Bird, while the StarWars.com announcement and current film page do not.
Who is in the Star Wars: Starfighter cast?
Lucasfilm’s StarWars.com announcement, dated August 28, 2025, lists eight cast members:
- Ryan Gosling
- Flynn Gray
- Matt Smith
- Mia Goth
- Aaron Pierre
- Jamael Westman
- Daniel Ings
- Amy Adams
The announcement said production had begun in the United Kingdom. A Walt Disney Company casting announcement published on August 28, 2025 also names Simon Bird. Because the two official announcements do not match, the most accurate account is that Disney’s page includes Bird, while the StarWars.com announcement and the current StarWars.com film page omit him.
Who does Ryan Gosling play?
StarWars.com identifies Gosling’s character as Kade Auberon on its current film page. In an August 15, 2026 report, Gosling described Kade as “a guy from the wrong side of the galaxy, whose fate is intertwined with the fastest starfighter ever built.” That description offers a glimpse of the character, not a fuller plot synopsis.

When does Star Wars: Starfighter come out?

What is the film about?
Lucasfilm describes Starfighter as an all-new standalone adventure with an original story and new characters in a period of the Star Wars timeline not previously explored. Disney’s April 17, 2025 announcement places the story approximately five years after the events of 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. That is the announced setting; the official information cited here does not provide a detailed plot summary.
