Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premiered on Disney+ on April 6, 2026, with two episodes. Lucasfilm said all eight season-one episodes were streaming by May 4, 2026. The animated series follows Maul’s attempt to rebuild his criminal syndicate after The Clone Wars.
Where and when to watch Maul – Shadow Lord
The series launched on Disney+ on April 6, 2026. Lucasfilm’s release plan called for two episodes at launch, then two episodes each week, ending with the finale on May 4, Star Wars Day. On May 4, Lucasfilm announced that all season-one episodes were available on Disney+. Lucasfilm’s season-one streaming announcement establishes that availability, though streaming catalogs can vary by territory.
What the series is about
Set in the early years of Emperor Palpatine’s reign, after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the story finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on Janix, a planet described by Lucasfilm as untouched by the Empire. There he encounters Devon Izara, a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who may become the apprentice he is seeking.
The official series listing classifies the show as action, adventure, and animation, and gives it a TV-PG rating. It consists of eight chapters:
