Her first reported visual depiction appeared in the 2024 illustrated reference book Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers—not her first appearance in canon. Sister had already appeared in E.K. Johnston’s 2022 novel Queen’s Hope.
Who is Sister, the trans clone trooper?
Sister is a clone trooper described in contemporaneous coverage as a trans woman. The reports identify the new image of her in Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers as her first reported visual depiction. That distinction matters: the book did not introduce Sister to canon.
PhilSTAR Life described Sister’s illustrated appearance as long braided hair and armor with stripes resembling the transgender flag. Those details come from the outlet’s report, not the publisher’s product description, which presents the book as a general guide to clone troopers.
Which Star Wars book shows Sister?
Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers is a hardcover by Marc Sumerak, with illustrations by Alberto Buscicchio. Insight Editions published it on October 8, 2024. The publisher lists 32 pages and ISBN 9798886630534. Its official product page describes an illustrated, in-universe guide to clone troopers, covering subjects such as their origins on Kamino, the 501st Legion, Clone Force 99, and Order 66.

When did Sister first appear in Star Wars canon?
Contemporaneous reporting identifies Queen’s Hope, E.K. Johnston’s 2022 novel, as Sister’s canon debut. The book’s appearance of Sister predates the 2024 reference book, even though the latter is where outlets reported her first visual depiction.
PhilSTAR Life reports that Sister does not have a major role in Queen’s Hope. Its October 2024 article also said she had not appeared in a Star Wars film or television series as of publication; that is a time-bounded statement, not a claim about her screen appearances today.

What the reports say about the reveal
Comic Basics and PhilSTAR Life reported on Sister’s depiction and on a passage attributed to Captain Rex about her. The latter outlet’s transcription includes the phrase “she featured she’d have to hide,” which appears to contain an error. Without an independently verified text of the book, that wording should not be treated as a reliable direct quotation.
PhilSTAR Life also reproduces a line attributed to Anakin Skywalker in Queen’s Hope about transcending gender. Because the novel’s wording is not independently verified here, the line is best understood as an attributed passage in that report rather than a confirmed quotation.
