The official season 5 trailer arrived on October 10, 2024. StarTrek.com described the season as the fifth and final one, opening October 24 with two episodes. The trailer’s broader setup was the Cerritos crew’s effort to close “space potholes”—subspace rifts disrupting the Alpha Quadrant.

The rifts are the season’s organizing problem, not its only source of conflict. The official season description also points to an Orion war, Klingons, diplomatic catastrophes, murder mysteries, and the lower-deckers’ aspirations to advance their careers.
Why are there multiple Harry Kims?
The October trailer teases multiple versions of Harry, but its linked official page does not explain their identities or the episode’s plot. That context came later: in a December 21, 2024 StarTrek.com interview, Wang described the “Kim Krew” as a handful of Ensign Harry Kims from different quantum realities.

Wang said he often performed opposite alternate versions of Harry, including “Harry Kim, Two-Pip Kim, Tall Socks Kim.” To keep them distinct, he used character tags such as nervous or overconfident. As he put it, “It’s the Harry Kim Multiplicity episode.” The interview identifies their story with “Fissure Quest” and places the Kim Krew within the episode’s Anaximander plot.
Which episode features the Kim Krew?
The multiple-Kim story is part of “Fissure Quest.” Keep the timing clear: the trailer was published in October 2024, while Wang’s December interview supplied the episode context. His account explains the performance and the alternate-Kim ensemble; it should not be mistaken for information the trailer page itself spelled out.
Was season 5 the final season?
Yes. Paramount’s October 10, 2024 press release announced a 10-episode final season, with new episodes scheduled for Thursdays after the October 24 two-episode premiere and a finale on December 19, 2024. Those are the announced 2024 dates, not a current release schedule.
