Spoilers for the series finale. The Korean competition ends with Season 3: Jun-hee’s baby, Player 222, wins the final game after Gi-hun sacrifices himself to save the child. Netflix has confirmed that Episode 6 is the planned series finale, with no Season 4. The closing scene suggests that games may be operating elsewhere, but it does not announce a continuation.
Who wins the final game?
Jun-hee’s newborn baby wins the last round of the competition. After Jun-hee dies, the child takes her place as Player 222 and becomes a participant in the final game. By the end, Gi-hun and the baby are the last remaining players.
The final contest is the Sky Squid Game. Its three towers are shaped like a square, triangle and circle. On each tower, players must push another participant off; the second and third rounds begin when a button on the ground is pressed. Gi-hun chooses to give up his life rather than let the baby die.
The baby receives the fictional grand prize of 4.56 billion won, as reported by Netflix Tudum. This is the prize within the story, not a real-world earnings or viewership figure.

Why does Gi-hun sacrifice himself?
Gi-hun’s final choice turns his survival into a decision about what kind of person he will be. He could try to preserve himself at the baby’s expense; instead, he saves a helpless child. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk described the choice as an ordinary person doing the best he could: “He simply made the best decision possible for him,” he told Yonhap.
That act also gives the ending its central contrast: a competition built on treating people as disposable ends with Gi-hun refusing to treat the baby that way. The sacrifice does not undo the violence or restore the people who died. It gives the child a chance to live beyond the game.

What does the baby represent?
Hwang has said the baby represents the next generation: “Ultimately, the baby represents the future generation,” he told Netflix Tudum. In his interpretation, leaving the child alive makes hope possible, but does not guarantee a better future. That future depends on choices made by people now.
Hwang connected that idea to his concerns about inequality and inaction on climate change in an interview reported by Yonhap. Those are the creator’s stated context for the ending, rather than facts the finale itself proves. He framed change as the result of ordinary people’s small choices, not the work of a few exceptional figures.

Does the Los Angeles scene mean the Games continue?
The final scene shifts from Korea to Los Angeles. The Front Man visits Gi-hun’s daughter to return her father’s belongings and winnings, then sees Cate Blanchett’s recruiter character playing ddakji with a man. The scene echoes the recruiting method used in Korea and implies that another operation may exist in the United States.
That implication is not confirmation of a new season. Hwang told TheWrap that the cameo was intended as an impactful ending, not a Season 4 tease. He has discussed hypothetical stories involving recruiters or masked guards, but that interview does not establish a spinoff. The scene broadens the fictional world; it does not change the confirmed ending of Gi-hun’s story.

Are the Games finally over?
For the Korean competition depicted in the series, yes: the final game is completed, the baby survives, and Gi-hun dies. For the larger fictional system, the show leaves the door open. The Los Angeles recruiter hints that games may operate elsewhere, but the series does not show what happens next.
Netflix Tudum identified Season 3 as the final season in its June 28, 2025 series-final announcement, and its finale explainer calls Episode 6 the planned, definitive ending. Netflix’s Season 3 guide lists six final-season episodes. As released, the show has no Season 4; the open-ended image of a recruiter is not evidence that one has been ordered.
