Squad 36 is Netflix’s title for a 2025 French police thriller directed and written by Olivier Marchal. It follows Antoine Cerda, a senior officer reassigned from Paris’s Investigation and Intervention Brigade (BRI), as he looks into killings and a disappearance involving his former squad. Gaumont, the film’s producer, lists it under the title Bastion 36.
What is Squad 36 about?
In the official synopsis, Antoine Cerda is a senior BRI officer transferred to the Anti-Crime Brigade after an internal disciplinary sanction. Thirteen months later, two officers from his former squad are killed in less than 24 hours, and a third goes missing. Cerda investigates, amid police rivalry and what the synopsis describes as a downward spiral. This is the film’s fictional premise, not a report of real police events. Gaumont’s synopsis sets the story in Paris.
Why is it also called Bastion 36?
Squad 36 is the name on Netflix’s UK listing, while Gaumont’s film page calls the same 2025 film Bastion 36. Gaumont’s release announcement also uses Squad 36, and Netflix labels its trailer Bastion 36. The names refer to the same film, rather than separate productions. Netflix’s title page classifies it as a French mystery and thriller, and tags it as based on a book.
Who made the film, and who is in the cast?
Olivier Marchal directed and wrote the film. Gaumont lists Victor Belmondo, Tewfik Jallab, Yvan Attal and Soufiane Guerrab among the cast. Netflix’s listing also names Juliette Dol, Jean-Michel Correia, Lydia Andrei, Moussa Mansaly, Erika Sainte and Lise Lomi. The producer’s promotional copy sums up its central tension with the line, “The enemy is not outside, it’s within the ranks.” Gaumont film details · Netflix cast listing
