Spotify Lossless is included with Premium and streams supported music in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC. To use it, choose Lossless under Settings and privacy > Media quality on each device. For the best chance of receiving lossless audio, Spotify recommends a stable connection and wired headphones or speakers; Bluetooth compresses the signal.
What Spotify Lossless offers
Spotify began rolling out Lossless to Premium listeners on September 10, 2025. In an update dated October 6, 2025, the company said it was available to Premium users in more than 50 markets. That is a dated rollout figure, not a guarantee that the feature is available to every account today; access can depend on market and setup. Spotify’s launch announcement
Lossless streams music in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, which Spotify calls its highest music audio quality. The format preserves more of the audio data than a compressed stream, but the setting alone cannot guarantee that every track or playback path will deliver lossless sound.
How do I turn on Spotify Lossless?
- Open the Spotify app and tap your profile menu.
- Select Settings and privacy, then Media quality.
- Choose Lossless for Wi-Fi, cellular, or downloads, as appropriate.
- Repeat the selection on each device where you want to use it. Spotify applies the setting device by device.
Spotify recommends checking the file-quality card or Lossless indicator during playback to confirm the stream’s quality. Which devices support Spotify Lossless?
Spotify lists mobile, desktop, tablet, and many Spotify Connect devices as supported categories, but third-party compatibility varies. Spotify’s current support guidance specifies mobile app version 9.0.58 or later and desktop app version 1.2.67 or later. Some third-party and multi-room devices may not support Lossless in every market. Spotify Support: Lossless audio quality
Even on a supported device, the actual result depends on the app version, hardware, connection type, selected quality setting, and whether the content is available in Lossless. If playback does not show the Lossless indicator, check those conditions before assuming the account or device is incompatible.

Does Spotify Lossless work over Bluetooth?
Spotify says Bluetooth does not provide enough bandwidth to transmit lossless audio and compresses the signal before it reaches the headphones or speaker. For the smoothest lossless playback, Spotify recommends wired headphones or speakers using a non-Bluetooth connection. A new purchase is not necessary if you already have a suitable wired setup; connector compatibility varies by device.
Spotify Connect may be another option, but the receiving device must support Lossless, and connection type can affect the delivered quality. Network requirements and data use
Spotify Support recommends a steady connection of 1.5 to 2 Mbps for the best lossless listening experience. This is Spotify’s recommendation, not an independently verified minimum that guarantees uninterrupted playback. Network stability and available bandwidth matter as well as the number shown by a connection test.
Lossless downloads and cellular streaming can use more data than lower-quality settings. If data use or buffering is a concern, select Lossless only for Wi-Fi or downloads in Media quality, or choose a lower setting for cellular listening.

What Spotify Lossless does not cover
- Spotify says Lossless is unavailable for music videos, podcasts, and audiobooks.
- The launch announcement describes availability across nearly every song, not every song; catalog coverage is not universal.
- Higher technical fidelity does not guarantee an obvious difference for every listener. Spotify itself cautions that the experience may not change dramatically for everyone, and there is no established quantified audibility rate.
