Apple’s three-month Apple Music offer is not the standard trial for every new subscriber: Apple’s U.S. page lists one month for new subscribers generally and three months for new subscribers with an eligible audio device. To claim the longer offer, pair the qualifying device with a current iPhone or iPad and redeem it in Apple Music within the offer’s local time limit.
Who can get three months free?
Apple’s U.S. Apple Music page distinguishes its ordinary new-subscriber trial from its device promotion: the standard offer is one month, while new subscribers with an eligible audio device may receive three months. Eligibility depends on the country, device model and offer terms. Check the offer displayed in Apple Music and the linked local terms before relying on a particular model or duration. You do not need to buy a device to try Apple Music: the standard new-subscriber trial is a separate option. Nor does every Apple or Beats product qualify for the longer promotion. If you are considering a purchase, weigh the hardware’s usefulness and cost on their own; the free subscription period alone does not establish that buying it is worthwhile.
How to redeem the device offer
- Check the local offer and eligible device. Open Apple Music and review the trial shown for your Apple Account. Confirm the exact model and terms for your country before purchasing or pairing a device.
- Update your iPhone or iPad. Apple’s U.S. offer says the iPhone or iPad used for pairing must be running the latest iOS or iPadOS.
- Pair the eligible audio device. Connect it to the iPhone or iPad using the normal pairing process for that product.
- Open Apple Music and activate the offer. Follow the offer prompt and on-screen steps while signed in with your Apple Account. Apple’s U.S. page allows redemption within three months after the eligible device’s first activation. The precise deadline may vary by country and offer.
Device eligibility varies by country
Apple’s Malaysia promotion terms provide one example of a local eligible-device list: it includes AirPods 4. That is not a universal eligibility list. The Malaysian terms also describe a new-subscriber offer for an Individual subscription, limited to one offer per Apple Account and not combinable with Apple One or another Apple Music offer. They require claiming in the Apple Music app within 90 days of first setup—or, for listed audio devices, first pairing—and signing in with an Apple Account. Apple Malaysia promotion terms

Those are Malaysia-specific conditions, not a substitute for the terms where you live. Apple’s U.S. page describes its redemption window as three months from the qualifying device’s first activation. Before you count on the promotion, verify availability, the model list and the claim deadline in your own Apple Music offer.
What happens when the free period ends?
A free trial can turn into a paid recurring subscription. Apple’s Malaysia terms state that its three-month offer renews at RM 16.90 per month after the trial unless cancelled. That price applies to the Malaysia terms only; the U.S. page lists standard plan prices but does not specify a separate post-offer charge for this device promotion. Check the price and billing terms shown when you activate your local offer.

For the Malaysia promotion, cancelling during the free period ends access immediately, and the remaining trial cannot be reactivated; cancelling at least one day before renewal prevents the next charge. Do not assume those cancellation consequences apply in another country without checking its terms.

- Tap Manage Subscription.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to manage or cancel the subscription. Apple Support: Manage your Apple Music subscription
Apple Support says, “New subscribers can start a trial and cancel at any time.” The timing and effect of cancellation during a device promotion should still be checked in the applicable local terms.
