“Overtures and Outbursts,” Southern Charm Season 10, Episode 7, aired Jan. 23, 2025. Molly’s concert gives the group a reason to celebrate, but the mood changes at JT’s after-party when he tells Taylor about Salley and Gaston’s past. The disclosure sparks a dispute over whether JT was right to intervene.
What happens in “Overtures and Outbursts”?
The episode moves between a relaxed fishing trip, Molly’s musical performance and a party that turns into a confrontation. The contrast is especially sharp for JT: he is an easygoing companion with Craig and Shep on the water, then becomes the center of conflict after sharing information with Taylor.
Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing describes Craig and Austen continuing to clash, Shep telling Sienna he loves her, and the group attending Molly’s concert before drama takes over at JT’s after-party.
Why are Venita and Taylor talking about trust?
Venita tells Salley that Taylor has to regain the women’s trust after betraying Olivia. Taylor separately recognizes that trust is an issue and discusses it with Gaston. That concern becomes relevant later, when JT’s account of Salley and Gaston’s history adds another personal disclosure to the group’s tensions.

What happens on JT, Craig and Shep’s fishing trip?
JT joins Craig and Shep despite having little fishing experience and repeatedly making clear that he would rather play golf. The outing goes well. Craig sees a fun, pleasant side of JT on the trip, a contrast he later points out when JT confronts the group at his party.
Shep’s photo with Craig and JT bothers Austen, adding to the episode’s existing friction between Craig and Austen.

What does Molly perform?
The group attends Molly’s concert, a highlight before the evening’s arguments. The episode listing describes it as a tuba concert, while Reality Tea’s scene-by-scene recap identifies Molly’s instrument as a euphonium. The available accounts differ on the instrument’s label, so the performance is best understood as Molly’s concert rather than assigned a more specific instrument with certainty.
Reality Tea’s recap says Molly was returning to music after time spent modeling, had played in a Charleston band and joked about performing despite having lip filler.

What does JT tell Taylor about Salley and Gaston?
At the after-party JT hosts at one of his properties, he tells Taylor that Salley and Gaston had previously been involved, exchanged “I love yous,” and that their relationship overlapped with Gaston having a girlfriend. Those details are presented as JT’s account on the episode, not as independently verified history. Reality Tea reports that Salley confirms the account while saying she did not initially know Gaston had a girlfriend.
Taylor objects to JT raising the matter and leaves. The conversation shifts the party from a celebration into an argument about the disclosure itself: whether JT was trying to warn Taylor or had taken over a situation that was not his to manage.

Why does the group argue about JT’s role?
Craig says it is not JT’s place to take control of Taylor’s personal situation. Later, he contrasts JT’s behavior at the party with the agreeable man he and Shep spent time with fishing. Craig tells him, “This isn’t the same person who went fishing with me and Shep earlier this week, because you were f*cking nice and happy and kind,” as quoted by Reality Tea.
Shep acknowledges that JT intended to warn Taylor, but says there are different ways to do it. JT storms away, and Venita follows him. Her response offers a counterpoint to the group’s frustration: she says she sees a softer side of him that others may not see.
