Turner played Sansa Stark and Williams played Arya Stark, sisters whose on-screen relationship changed across the show’s eight seasons.
What was the Rolling Stone cover story about?
The feature centered on the actresses’ bond off screen and the experience of growing up together while making the series. Rolling Stone en Español published a Spanish-language version, “Crecer con ‘Game of Thrones,’” on April 1, 2019. It credits Brian Hiatt and identifies the piece as an extract from RS189, the April 2019 issue: Rolling Stone en Español. Allure reported on March 27 that the magazine had released a joint cover featuring Turner and Williams: Allure.
What did Turner and Williams say about their friendship?
In a contemporaneous recap of the Rolling Stone conversation, E! News reported that the actresses traced their closeness to their 2009 chemistry read. Williams recalled her first impression of Turner: “I thought Sophie was the coolest thing I’d ever seen.” She also joked, “If you’re working with your best friend, you will never get any work done, ever.” E! described the pair as struggling to keep serious while working together: E! News.
Those short quotations are English excerpts reproduced by E! from the Rolling Stone conversation. The magazine’s available Spanish-language version is not a basis for treating longer English passages as exact wording from the original.

Was this an interview about the series finale?
It was published in the lead-up to the final season, rather than after the finale. E! reported that season eight was scheduled to begin airing on HBO on April 14, 2019. UPI also reported in March that the joint interview would appear in Rolling Stone’s April issue: UPI.
The title’s reference to the “finale” is best understood in the context of that approaching final season: the cover story explored Turner and Williams’ shared history as the show was nearing its end, not their retrospective response to the last episode.
