In a 2016 interview, she spoke about questioning her gender from childhood, deciding to transition in college, and the role Jenner’s public story played in that decision. The interview is a contemporaneous account of what Hutchins said then—not an independent medical record or a complete biography.
Hutchins said she had questioned her gender since childhood
In a December 2016 interview with The Pepperdine Graphic, the student newspaper identified Hutchins as Scott and used male pronouns, noting that he preferred them for the interview. In that historical context, Hutchins said he had researched transition in third grade and first told a close friend that he was a woman at age 15. These are Hutchins’s recollections as reported at the time; the article’s naming and pronouns reflect its publication context.
Hutchins also said that after starting college and seeing a therapist, he concluded it was time to transition. He described hormone treatment and hair-removal procedures, and said he planned to take a semester away to complete his transition socially, emotionally, and medically. The interview does not provide a fuller medical history.

She held student leadership roles at Pepperdine
When the interview was published, Hutchins was Pepperdine’s junior class president and chaired the LGBTQ+ committee in student government. The article also described her involvement in Crossroads, which it identified as the university’s first LGBTQ+ club. Hutchins said she was resigning as junior class president and planned to take a semester away.

Caitlyn Jenner’s public transition influenced Hutchins, according to her account
Hutchins told the student newspaper that watching Jenner discuss her transition on 20/20 helped make transition seem more possible. In the interview’s published wording, Hutchins said it “made it so much more real for [him], like normal and successful people do this and people are OK when they do it.” She also credited support from family and friends.
This establishes a connection between Jenner’s public story and Hutchins’s own account of deciding to transition. It does not establish when or how the two first met; the sources available here do not settle those details.

Later coverage described their relationship as a partnership
By October 2018, Out described Hutchins as Jenner’s manager, with work that included public speaking, media appearances, endorsement deals, and advocacy. Asked about their relationship, Hutchins said: “I would not use the word girlfriend. I would not say we’re dating. I would say we’re partners.” That was her characterization at that time.
In a later interview with The New York Times, summarized by ELLE Australia in December 2019, Hutchins said they had “never romantically involved.” The two statements belong to different points in time and should be attributed to Hutchins rather than treated as proof about private life beyond what she said publicly.

What the record does—and does not—show
The strongest detail about Hutchins before her public connection to Jenner comes from her own 2016 account of questioning her gender, campus leadership, and the influences behind her decision to transition. Later reporting documents how she described her work and relationship with Jenner. Those sources do not provide a verified account of her full childhood or a precise first-meeting story.
Variety reported that Hutchins died in July 2025 at age 29. That is a later biographical endpoint, rather than part of the story of her life before meeting Jenner.
