Who voices Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3?
Keanu Reeves voices Shadow. Paramount’s cast listing also credits Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles. Jim Carrey plays both Ivo Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik, giving the Robotnik role in the story a double performance. Paramount Global Content listed the film’s premiere as December 20, 2024. Release timing can vary by region. Paramount’s film page identifies the movie as a 2024 release, rates it PG, classifies it in the action, adventure and family genres, and gives its running time as 110 minutes.
Where to watch the film
Paramount announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 would begin streaming on Paramount+ on February 18, 2025. What happened after the release
Paramount’s viewership report
Paramount reported that combined viewership of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 rose by 185 percent following the third film’s release. This is a figure published by the studio, rather than an independently measured audience statistic. Paramount Press Express announced the streaming start and the company’s viewership figure.
SEGA’s box-office and sequel announcement
In an announcement dated January 22, 2025, SEGA said the third film had surpassed $425 million worldwide, compared with $405 million for the previous film. Those totals are SEGA’s reported figures. The same announcement said Paramount had scheduled Sonic 4 for March 19, 2027; that is the date announced then, not a separately reverified current schedule. A game tie-in for Shadow fans
SEGA’s Sonic X Shadow Generations is a game, not a way to watch the movie. Its Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack adds movie-inspired Shadow content, including a Movie Shadow skin voiced by Keanu Reeves in English and new stages. SEGA says the pack requires the base game and purchase of the DLC, or access through a qualifying Digital Deluxe edition or upgrade. Check the specific platform and edition in your region before buying; physical and digital availability differ.
