Crunchyroll’s July 3 announcement says the movie was revealed at its Anime Expo showcase and describes it as continuing Jinwoo’s story after Season 2. The specific cause is unknown based on the available attributable statements. The film announcement, the reported investor window, and comments from Crunchyroll’s president do not establish that studio workload, staff availability, the movie, or another production decision caused the gap. Treating any of those as the confirmed explanation would go beyond what the sources say.
In a May 23, 2026 interview with Radio Times, interviewer Tilly Pearce asked, “Any news about Solo Leveling?” Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini replied: “Nothing to announce, but we are just as eager as the fans for the next show! We know the creators are actively working on it, so hopefully we can announce something soon.” This indicates activity on the next project generally; it is not a Season 3 announcement, a date, or an explanation for the wait.
