A-1 Pictures is the anime’s animation production studio. Kakao Entertainment identified the Japan-based studio when it announced the adaptation on July 4, 2022. A-1 Pictures’ own work page classifies Solo Leveling as a January 2024 TV anime.
Other companies named around the announcement and distribution are not the animation studio: the credits distinguish A-1 Pictures’ production role from the distribution context involving Aniplex and Crunchyroll. Kakao Entertainment’s announcement and the official anime staff page identify the project and staff.
Who designed the anime’s characters?
Tomoko Sudo is credited as character designer in the official staff announcement. A-1 Pictures also credits Chigusa Furumiya as sub-character designer on its Solo Leveling work page. These are anime production credits, not credits for the original webtoon’s artwork.

How does the anime art credit differ from the webtoon art credit?
DUBU (REDICE STUDIO) illustrated the source webtoon. Tomoko Sudo’s character-design credit applies to the anime adaptation, while Chigusa Furumiya is credited for sub-character design. Those roles belong to different productions and media; the credits do not establish that the anime reproduces the webtoon panels directly.
The July 2022 announcement introduced teaser artwork and a promotional video, but its text does not explain specific design changes. Any comparison of how the characters look should be based on the actual official images or video, rather than inferred from the credits alone.
