The best-documented soccer group in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is the four U.S. women’s national team players photographed in 2019: Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Crystal Dunn, and Abby Dahlkemper. Later confirmed appearances include former soccer player Brittany Mahomes in 2024 and on a 2026 digital cover, and University of Colorado Boulder player Phoenix Dawn Miranda in 2025. These documented examples are not a complete all-time roster.
Soccer players featured in 2019
Sports Illustrated named Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Crystal Dunn, and Abby Dahlkemper among the 34 women in its 2019 Swimsuit Issue. The four traveled to St. Lucia for the shoot. Morgan was a cover model; SI described it as her third appearance in the issue and said she worked with the magazine to select the other three national team players. SI’s 2019 issue announcement and roster lists all four. SI’s Abby Dahlkemper profile also confirms that she was photographed with Morgan, Rapinoe, and Dunn.
For Rapinoe, SI calls 2019 her first Swimsuit appearance and describes her as the first openly gay woman to pose for the issue. That distinction is SI’s characterization of the issue’s history. SI’s Rapinoe coverage provides that context.

2024: Brittany Mahomes
SI introduced Brittany Mahomes as a rookie in the 2024 issue, photographed in San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize, for the magazine’s 60th anniversary edition. Her feature identifies her as a former college and professional soccer player. It reports that she scored 31 career goals at the University of Texas at Tyler, then the second-most in that program’s history. Mahomes said, “I never in my wildest dreams thought this would happen.” Read SI’s 2024 profile.

The profile says Mahomes played professionally for UMF Afturelding in Iceland before shifting her focus to fitness. It also notes that athletes she admired, including Alex Morgan, inspired her.
2025: Phoenix Dawn Miranda
Phoenix Dawn Miranda, a University of Colorado Boulder soccer player, was among the athletes photographed in Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2025 Swimsuit Issue, according to SI’s Big 12 feature.
2026: Brittany Mahomes on a digital cover
Mahomes appeared again as one of six cover stars for SI Swimsuit’s February 2026 digital issue. The feature says the shoot took place in Fort Myers, Florida, and notes her brief professional soccer career in Iceland. This was a digital issue cover, distinct from an appearance in a print annual issue. SI’s 2026 feature identifies the format and cover group.

The confirmed appearances above span different soccer backgrounds: the 2019 U.S. national team players, Mahomes as a former college and professional player, and Miranda as a college player. Playing status can change, so these descriptions refer to the biographical details reported in the cited features rather than asserting anyone’s current status.
Rank #3
This is a documented selection, not a complete history of every soccer player who has appeared in SI Swimsuit. SI’s athlete roundup is selective, and the year-specific profiles establish the examples listed here without proving a comprehensive roster.
