Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice performed in New York’s Times Square on November 1, 2024, while their performance was broadcast live in Fortnite. Epic Games called it Remix: The Prelude: not just a virtual concert, but the opening to a month-long season that brought artists into the game world, Fortnite Festival, and other digital content. The event offered a vivid example of Fortnite’s expanding role as a music platform—though not proof that games will replace live shows or streaming services.
What happened at the Times Square concert?
On November 1, 2024, Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice performed in Times Square as Fortnite players watched the performance in-game. Epic described the real-world show as kicking off Chapter 2 Remix; players could later catch the full performance at Risky Reels on the remixed island. Epic’s announcement and the season overview establish the event’s date and place in the game’s rollout.
The Prelude was a hybrid event: an artist performance in a recognizable physical location, paired with an in-game broadcast and a season designed to keep the collaboration going. It was different from a concert staged entirely inside Fortnite.
How did the performance connect to Chapter 2 Remix?
Chapter 2 Remix ran from November 2 through November 30, 2024, reworking Fortnite’s Chapter 2 island around a sequence of artists: Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Spice, and Juice WRLD. The collaborations extended beyond appearances. Epic’s season announcement included artist-themed island content, digital outfits and rewards, a Snoop-themed car bundle, and music tied to Fortnite Festival. Snoop was also the featured Icon for Festival Season 6.

The season concluded with Remix: The Finale, an in-game event on November 30 at 2 p.m. ET, planned as a celebration and tribute to Juice WRLD. These were features of the 2024 season, not a statement that its time-limited content is available now.
Why the event pointed to a broader music strategy
Writing for The Verge, Andrew Webster described Fortnite’s music activity as a growing mix of formats: headline virtual concerts, Fortnite Festival headliners and playable songs, in-game radio, emotes, and other artist-themed content. The Times Square broadcast brought a live performance into that wider ecosystem, then linked it to a season and a recurring music mode.

Epic’s head of global partnerships, Nate Nanzer, told Webster that earlier events tended to be isolated, while Festival gave the company a venue to celebrate music more regularly. He cited Travis Scott’s Astronomical as an earlier demonstration of the scale of virtual events, and Festival as a step toward more frequent music programming. Snoop described the collaboration as a partnership: “Most games just want one song and you don’t even see the artist. So for them to let us be a part of the game, and that community, it’s deep.”
The approach also had a personal origin. Snoop’s son, Cordell Broadus, told Webster that seeing Fortnite’s Wu-Tang Clan collaboration made him think, “I gotta put his music in there.” The result was not limited to inserting songs: Snoop became part of the game’s identity and seasonal content.

What the audience numbers do—and don’t—show
There is no verified audience figure in the cited sources for the November 1 Times Square Prelude. The frequently repeated figure of 14.3 million concurrent players belongs to a different event: Remix: The Finale on November 30. Music Business Worldwide reported the number on December 2, 2024, citing Fortnite’s announcement; the report also said more than 3 million people were estimated to have streamed the finale online. Those figures describe the season finale, not the Times Square performance.
| Event | Format | Audience evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Remix: The Prelude, November 1, 2024 | Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice performed in Times Square while the performance was broadcast in Fortnite. | No precise audience figure established in the cited sources. |
| Remix: The Finale, November 30, 2024 | A separate in-game season finale and tribute to Juice WRLD. | 14.3 million concurrent players, as reported by Music Business Worldwide on December 2, 2024, citing Fortnite; more than 3 million online streams were estimated in the same report. |
What the event says about Fortnite’s future—and its limits
The Prelude showed how a game can connect music discovery, interactive spaces, artist branding, and live events in one place. It also illustrated a business and creative proposition: artists can be represented across a community and a season, rather than appearing only as a song or a one-off spectacle.

That remains an experiment, not a settled replacement for conventional concerts or music platforms. Webster’s report noted that an earlier effort to create virtual tour stops for artists largely fizzled out. Fortnite’s strategy may support both headline acts and exposure for less-established musicians, but the Times Square show alone cannot establish how durable or broad that opportunity will be.
Fortnite Festival itself continues, according to Epic’s support page checked October 8, 2026. Its Battle Stage competitive mode went offline with release 40.20 on April 16, 2026; Main Stage, Jam Stage, and music features across Fortnite continue. Epic’s current status page distinguishes the end of that mode from the end of Festival.
