Snoop Dogg reportedly urged Celtic to bring back Ange Postecoglou during a Daily Record interview in November 2025. That was a comment in the middle of a managerial debate—not an appointment announcement. Celtic appointed Martin O’Neill as Football Manager in June 2026, and the club was still referring to him as its manager in October.
Which manager did Snoop Dogg want Celtic to hire?
He reportedly wanted Celtic to bring back former manager Ange Postecoglou. The remarks were attributed to an interview with Scotland’s Daily Record and reproduced by Reuters and The Independent; the original interview transcript or recording was not directly available in those reports. Reuters and The Independent both reported the recommendation.
As quoted in those reports, Snoop Dogg said: “I love sport, and in sport players leave, coaches leave, and you move on.” He then praised O’Neill’s return to Celtic before adding: “I think you got to bring Ange back. The club are going to do what they are going to do, but the fans would love to see him back.” The “fans would love” phrase was Snoop Dogg’s characterization, not the result of a cited poll or survey.
What was happening at Celtic when he made the comment?
The remarks came during uncertainty over Celtic’s manager after Brendan Rodgers’s departure in October 2025. O’Neill had returned in an interim role, and Snoop Dogg expressed respect for him even as he advocated for Postecoglou. The comment was therefore a preference about the club’s next direction at that time, not news that Postecoglou had agreed to return.

How successful was Postecoglou at Celtic?
Postecoglou managed Celtic for two seasons, from 2021 to 2023. Reuters reported that he won the Scottish Premiership title in both seasons and completed a domestic treble in his second season. Those achievements help explain why a return appealed to Snoop Dogg; they do not indicate that Celtic later appointed him.

Celtic officially appointed Martin O’Neill Football Manager on 11 June 2026, on a one-year contract with an option for a further year. The club was still identifying O’Neill as its manager in an interview published on 6 October 2026. Celtic’s appointment announcement and the club’s October interview establish the later status.
