On the January 20, 2024 episode of Saturday Night Live, Reneé Rapp performed “Not My Fault” with Megan Thee Stallion, and Rachel McAdams introduced the performance. McAdams did not perform in the number; she appeared only as the introducer.

What happened on the episode

Jacob Elordi hosted that episode, and Reneé Rapp was the musical guest. Rapp performed two songs. The first was “Not My Fault,” the Mean Girls number she sang with Megan Thee Stallion. The second was “Snow Angel.” Coverage at the time, including Access Hollywood and TV Insider, described McAdams’s appearance as a surprise cameo.

The performance

“Not My Fault” with Megan Thee Stallion

The collaboration was the episode’s headline musical moment. Rapp and Megan Thee Stallion performed the song together, and reporting from Playbill on January 22, 2024 published the performance as a video clip.

“Snow Angel”

Rapp’s second performance that night was “Snow Angel,” a separate solo number. It is not part of the McAdams introduction.

Why McAdams’s introduction matters

McAdams played Regina George in the original 2004 Mean Girls film. Rapp played Regina in the newer movie musical after performing the role on Broadway. McAdams’s introduction therefore links the original screen Regina to the version Rapp has played on stage and in the newer film. Readers searching for “Rachel McAdams introduces Reneé Rapp” are looking for that handoff, and it is the detail that separates this segment from an ordinary musical-guest spot.

The soundtrack

“Not My Fault” appears on Mean Girls (Music from the Motion Picture), the 2024 movie musical soundtrack. It is a different album from the 2004 film’s soundtrack, so check the release year when buying. Interscope lists the standard soundtrack in vinyl and CD formats, and Reneé Rapp’s official store lists the standard vinyl. Pricing and stock change over time, and this article did not verify current availability.

What is and is not established

  • Established: the episode date (January 20, 2024), the host (Jacob Elordi), the song title, Megan Thee Stallion as Rapp’s collaborator, McAdams as the introducer, and “Snow Angel” as Rapp’s other song.
  • Not established here: the exact running time of the segment, and whether NBC or SNL’s own channel hosts a full-length version. Verify the clip on the official SNL channel before relying on a specific link.
  • Not claimed: that McAdams sang, danced, or otherwise performed in the number.

To watch the segment, search the episode’s January 20, 2024 listing on NBC’s SNL pages, or locate the performance through the Playbill video linked from its January 22, 2024 report.
