She was talking about U.K. Squashies; Smarties Candy Company separately lists a U.S. product called Mixed Fruit Squashies. Those distinctions matter because the U.S. listing does not establish that its candy is the same recipe Swift discussed.
What Taylor Swift said about Squashies
In a December 17, 2019, account of an interview, E! News reported that Swift had been talking near Judi Dench about candy called Squashies, which she said were available in the U.K. Swift said, “I was just talking near her about this kind of candy that they have in the U.K. called Squashies.” She called them “legit candy,” described them as gummy and berry-tasting, and recalled that Dench gave her about ten packets while they were filming Cats. E! News’ interview recap does not establish the exact claim that Squashies are Swift’s one favorite candy.

Smarties Candy Company’s store lists a U.S. product named Smarties Squashies Mixed Fruit. The listing describes gummy candy with three flavor pairs: orange and pineapple, lemon and lime, and cherry and black currant. It offers a case of twelve 5-ounce bags. How Squashies differ from classic Smarties
The shared name can be confusing. Smarties Candy Company’s classic U.S. Smarties are wafer tablets, while Squashies are a separate gummy product sold under the Smarties branding. The company says Squashies are not manufactured by Smarties Candy Company and contain gelatin. Its statements about classic Smarties tablets being vegan should not be applied to Squashies.
