Pedestrian.TV quoted Wheatley saying, “I was blind for three days. No one spoke any English.” That is her account as reported by the outlet, not an independently confirmed medical record.
What happened to Skye Wheatley in Turkey?
The headline frames Wheatley as nervous before being wheeled into surgery and saying she “could vomit.” The related Pedestrian.TV account concerns what she described after the procedure: temporary blindness, difficulty communicating with hospital staff and distress when she urgently needed a bucket. The preoperative anxiety and postoperative account are separate points in the timeline; the report does not establish that nausea caused a complication.
The account does not establish that Wheatley suffered permanent vision loss, and it is not a clinical record. The exact original publication behind the “could vomit” headline wording was not located, so a date, outlet or additional details about that moment cannot be verified here.
What is a fox-eye lift?
“Fox-eye lift” is a popular cosmetic label, not the name of one standardized operation. Coverage has also used the term “canthoplasty,” but the available clinical references do not confirm which technique was used in Wheatley’s case. It would be inaccurate to treat those labels as proof of her precise procedure.

For general context, the NHS describes blepharoplasty as surgery to remove excess eyelid skin or fat; other eyelid operations may address drooping lids or tighten associated structures. What can recovery from eyelid surgery involve?
Recovery varies by procedure and person. NHS guidance lists temporary effects such as puffy or numb eyelids, difficulty closing the eyes, irritation or watering, bruising and redness; bruising and redness can take weeks to fade. The NHS also lists possible complications including asymmetry, scarring, altered sensation, blurred or double vision and, rarely, more serious eye-related problems. MedlinePlus likewise lists dry eyes, blurred or double vision, uneven healing and scarring among potential risks. These are general risks of eyelid surgery, not evidence that any particular complication occurred in Wheatley’s case.

Both sources advise following the treating clinician’s instructions. The NHS says to contact the clinic about severe pain or unexpected symptoms. MedlinePlus notes that keeping the head raised and using wrapped cold packs may be advised; whether and how to use a cold pack should be confirmed with the surgeon. Activity restrictions and contact-lens guidance should also come from the care team.

Traveling for treatment adds planning considerations, but general guidance does not establish the quality of care at a particular Turkish clinic or say anything specific about Wheatley’s provider. The CDC’s Yellow Book guidance on medical tourism recommends assessing the destination, facility and clinician; arranging follow-up before travel; requesting medical records in English; and understanding how complications will be managed and financed after returning home. It also notes that surgery and air travel can each increase blood-clot risk, so travel during recovery needs careful consideration.
