The article claiming that Sky TV will lose eight channels does not name them or give a verifiable closure schedule. It also does not confirm that new channels are coming: its suggestion that closures will make room for replacements is speculation. A separate, confirmed Sky One relaunch and an earlier eight-channel closure notice help explain the confusion, but neither proves that new launches are imminent.
Which eight channels does the claim say are leaving?
It does not identify them. The May 18, 2026 Position Is Everything article titled “Sky TV: eight channel closures and the promise of new ones” gives no specific list, definite closure date, or cited Sky notice that verifies its claim. It also says Sky has not confirmed a full like-for-like replacement list. On the evidence presented in that article, viewers cannot tell which eight channels it means or when they would leave.
That omission matters: a headline about eight closures is not enough to establish that a particular channel is about to disappear from a viewer’s guide. Channel availability can depend on the country, platform and distribution agreement.
Are new Sky channels confirmed to be coming soon?
No. The article’s suggestion that closures are likely to clear space for new or replacement channels is conjecture, not a confirmed Sky plan. It provides no launch dates or verified replacement lineup. An empty or changing electronic programme guide (EPG) slot, by itself, does not establish that a new channel will launch.

What Sky changes are actually documented?
Sky One returned in the UK and Ireland in February 2026
Sky announced on February 3, 2026 that Sky One would return on February 24 at channel 106, replacing Sky Showcase and Sky Max. Sky said the two channels’ programming would be brought together and that customers would not lose access to content from Showcase and Max. This is a confirmed consolidation of two channels, not evidence for the unspecified eight-channel claim or for a coming slate of new channels. Sky’s announcement.
A separate eight-channel closure was scheduled for the 2025–26 year-end
A Sky Community manager’s December 2025 TV-guide notice listed eight channels scheduled to close on December 31, 2025 and come off the Sky EPG on January 6, 2026. Both dates have passed. The notice is useful historical context, but it does not establish that these are the eight channels meant by the May 2026 article or that new channels are now due to replace them.

The positions above are those given in the historical notice, not a guarantee of current availability. The notice said the POP brand would continue as an ad-supported streaming channel and that Tiny POP was expected to continue in a similar streaming-only format. Sky channel lineups are not identical in every market or on every device. Sky Italia, for example, documents changes tied to Italian distribution agreements: eight Warner Bros. Discovery channels returned to Sky Italia on April 30, 2026, while Frisbee and K2 became unavailable on Sky in Italy on August 31, 2026. The latter remained available free on Italian digital terrestrial television, and Sky Italia’s guidance distinguishes between Sky Q/My Sky and Sky Glass/Sky Stream. For a channel-specific answer, check the current guide or official support page for your country and Sky device. A listing for satellite Sky may differ from the one for Glass or Stream, and a channel’s availability through a streaming app or digital terrestrial TV is not the same as carriage in Sky’s linear guide.
