In E!’s account of their December 28, 2025 Sister Wives conversation, she gave him space to speak but questioned whether his apology was sincere and asked for a real discussion—not a one-way exchange on his terms.
Why Meri challenged Kody’s apology
E! reported that Kody came to apologize and wanted Meri to move on. Meri said she was guarded because she did not know why he had come, and their recent interactions had not gone well. When he repeatedly described the meeting as an apology, she objected to the repetition: “The more you use it, the more it feels insincere,” she said, according to E! News.

Her concern was not just the word itself. She wanted a conversation in which she could raise issues too, rather than simply listen while Kody delivered an apology and expected her to move on. That distinction is why the scene is better understood as Meri rejecting the terms of a one-sided exchange, not refusing to let him speak.
What happened when she asked for a broader conversation
E! reported that Kody did not want to discuss the children. Meri left feeling that the meeting had been for him. She said she had not seen improvement in how he handled divorces, property, or relationships with his children. Those details come from E!’s account of the episode; they should not be confused with a separate reunion conversation later in the season.

Meri’s later boundary on the One-on-One
In a clip from a later Sister Wives One-on-One, Meri made her boundary explicit: “I’m going to tell you this, Kody. You’re not gonna shut me down anymore. I’m going to finish what I’m saying. When I’m not treated well, the people closest to me will defend me.” Parade reported the exchange on January 25, 2026, and showed Christine Brown Woolley watching with host Sukanya Krishnan.
Christine praised Meri’s response, saying, “Meri was great. That was awesome.” She also said, “I love it. She just put him in his place, and she was like, ‘This isn’t for me. This is all for you,’” according to Parade. Her reaction underscored the same point as Meri’s earlier objection: an apology does not automatically make a conversation reciprocal.

Keep the episode timeline straight
E!’s December 29, 2025 report places the apology conversation in the December 28 episode. Apple TV’s U.S. listing identifies Season 20, Episode 15, “No Brain, No Pain,” as released January 5, 2026, and describes Kody giving a final apology to Robyn—not Meri. The episode listing therefore should not be used to assign the Meri scene to that episode based on the title alone. See Apple TV’s Season 20, Episode 15 listing.
Apple TV lists Season 20, Episode 19, “One-on-One: Part 4,” as released February 2, 2026, describing Meri and Kody discussing their “dark times in Vegas.” That is a later reunion installment. It is distinct from the apology conversation and from Parade’s January 25 report about a Part 3 clip. Episode labels and availability can vary by market; Apple TV’s pages here are for the United States. Apple TV’s Season 20, Episode 19 listing.
