By September, she said she was returning to North Carolina while he remained in Las Vegas and that they were gradually working out a long-distance relationship. The available reporting does not confirm Pete’s full identity or how long they have been together.
Janelle Brown introduced Pete in August 2026
On August 18, 2026, TLC reported Janelle’s public introduction of Pete and reproduced her Instagram announcement. She described the relationship as unexpected, writing: “Some chapters are meant to unfold quietly before they’re shared.” She added, “I wasn’t looking. I certainly wasn’t expecting you. And somehow, you turned out to be exactly what I didn’t know I needed. And it has been pretty wonderful.” Her post concluded: “Everyone please meet Pete.” TLC reported the announcement.

What Janelle shared about the long-distance relationship
In a September 27, 2026 Instagram caption quoted by Us Weekly, Janelle wrote: “It’s so fun having someone to do life with @meetrealpete. Tomorrow I go back to NC and Pete will stay in Vegas. We are slowly figuring out the long distance thing as we work to change it.” That update places her in North Carolina and Pete in Las Vegas at that point; it does not say when they met or specify what changing the arrangement would involve. Us Weekly quoted her caption.
Where Janelle lives and what she is doing in North Carolina
Realtor.com reported on October 5, 2026, that Janelle moved to Chocowinity, North Carolina, in 2024 and operates Taeda Farms, a 156-acre flower farm, with her daughter Madison Brown Bush. Those details provide context for the North Carolina destination in her September update; they do not establish that Pete has moved there or that the couple has settled on a future plan. Realtor.com’s report also says the Coyote Pass property sold in April 2025 for $1.5 million, after the family bought it in 2018 for $820,000. These are amounts reported by Realtor.com, not independently audited figures.

What is known—and not known—about Pete
Janelle’s public posts identify her boyfriend as Pete, and her September caption uses the handle @meetrealpete. The cited reporting does not establish his full name, how the two met, the length of their relationship, or further personal details. Claims beyond those disclosures would go beyond what the available reporting supports.
Why the “secret” and “villain” framing needs context
Janelle said she had not expected the relationship and that some chapters unfold quietly before they are shared. That is not evidence that she concealed a relationship from Kody Brown, or that there was deception or a conflict over Pete. The headline’s “huge secret” and “villain” language is sensational framing rather than a substantiated account of what happened.
Rank #2
There is separate current family and show context, but it does not explain Janelle’s relationship. TV Insider reported on October 4, 2026, that Kody and Robyn were absent from Season 21 while the series continued to follow Meri, Christine, and Janelle. The outlet said neither the couple nor TLC had publicly explained their absence; theories about contracts or other projects remained speculation. TV Insider’s Season 21 report does not establish a connection between that absence and Pete.

Realtor.com also connected Season 21 coverage to the continued fallout over Coyote Pass. Its October 5 report described Janelle denying Kody’s allegation that she tried to cut Meri out of the deal, while Meri said she did not know all the details. These are statements attributed to participants in the show, not independently established findings. They are separate from Janelle’s public updates about Pete.
