SirDavis is an American whisky launched in 2024 by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Moët Hennessy. Its ownership has since changed: Reuters reported on August 10, 2026, that LVMH sold its stake to Beyoncé, giving her full control. The transaction’s price and other details were not disclosed.
What is SirDavis whisky?
SirDavis is an American whisky created by Beyoncé and Moët Hennessy, then an LVMH subsidiary. LVMH announced the launch on August 20, 2024, saying Beyoncé had approached Moët Hennessy to develop a whisky inspired by her preferences. Dr. Bill Lumsden led its creation. The launch collaboration is the product’s origin; Reuters reported in 2026 that Beyoncé later acquired full control after LVMH sold its stake. How is SirDavis made?
The mash bill is 51% rye and 49% malted barley, according to LVMH. The brand says the whisky draws inspiration from Japanese and Scottish styles while retaining an American rye character. Its launch story says it was distilled in Indiana, initially matured in new American oak, then finished for around nine months in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks. It is finished, blended and bottled in Texas, and the 2024 brand story describes it as non-chill filtered. The official SirDavis site identifies the PX-cask finish.
What does SirDavis taste like?
These are the brand’s tasting notes, not an independent tasting assessment. SirDavis describes the whisky as deep copper in color, with an aroma of Seville orange, raisins, clove, cinnamon, ginger, Demerara sugar and toffee. Its listed palate notes are buttery toffee, cinnamon, clove, rye spice, malt, biscuit and citrus; the finish is described as honey, sultanas and cherries. The official product page lists SirDavis at 44% alcohol by volume (ABV), or 88 proof. That is the bottle’s stated strength, not a tasting score or award rating. SirDavis’ product page provides the figure.
Who owns SirDavis?
SirDavis began as a Beyoncé–Moët Hennessy joint venture. Reuters reported on August 10, 2026, that LVMH had sold its stake to Beyoncé, giving her full control. LVMH declined to provide further details, so the sale price, the size of the stake and the parties’ reasons for the transaction have not been established publicly in that report. What is the story behind the name and bottle?
LVMH says the brand honors Davis Hogue, Beyoncé’s paternal great-grandfather, whom the company describes as a farmer and moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. In the brand’s account, he hid whisky bottles in hollow knots in cedar trees to share with family and friends. Treat this as the family history as presented by the brand and company, rather than as independently verified biography. The bottle features ribbed glass and a black medallion bearing a bronzed horse; LVMH says the horse represents strength, respect and Beyoncé’s Texas roots. The available retailer information describes the 2024 launch, not current stock. LVMH listed a U.S. retail price of $89 at launch and anticipated availability in U.S. retail, select airports, and stores in London, Paris and Tokyo in September 2024. A September 4, 2024 rollout announcement said the whisky was then available online nationally and in selected U.S. markets. It named Total Wine & More, Spec’s, Gopuff, BevMo!, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits and Binny’s Beverage Depot, as well as DFS airport stores at JFK, LAX and SFO.
