The case for Jin-seok and Min-ji is therefore a counterfactual viewer argument—not a description of the show’s ending. It rests on the possibility that their pairing could have made for a more compelling on-screen match, not on any proven knowledge of their private compatibility.
What happened in the finale
Netflix’s Season 3 cast guide identifies Lee Jin-seok, An Min-young and Cho Min-ji as contestants. At the final selection, Jin-seok and Min-young chose one another; Min-ji chose Gwan-hee, according to Netflix Tudum’s cast guide and ComingSoon’s finale recap. That is the on-screen outcome, regardless of which alternative a viewer might have preferred.

Why Min-ji can make a persuasive alternative
A viewer can reasonably imagine Jin-seok and Min-ji as a more compelling pairing without claiming the show established they were destined for each other. In a dating competition, a potentially appealing match is not simply the person who receives the final choice; it is also about whether interest appears mutual, whether the people communicate clearly, whether that interest holds as new contestants enter, and whether each person seems to choose freely.
Those are useful lenses for interpreting what appears on screen, but the available reporting does not establish enough episode-by-episode evidence to say how Min-ji and Jin-seok performed on each measure. Without pointing to specific scenes, declaring that Min-ji was more reciprocal, clearer, or more consistent would turn a viewer preference into an unsupported factual claim. The strongest version of the argument is modest: Min-ji is a plausible alternative match for viewers who find that imagined dynamic more engaging, not a proven better partner for Jin-seok.

Why that does not make Min-young the wrong choice
The finale records Jin-seok and Min-young selecting each other. It does not establish that their choice was a mistake, or provide a definitive ranking of the contestants’ compatibility. Likewise, the case for Min-ji cannot establish what a relationship between her and Jin-seok would have been like. The show presents a limited set of interactions and a final selection, not a reliable test of how a couple would fare off camera.
Did Jin-seok and Min-young stay together after filming?
A Marie Claire post-show report said Jin-seok and Min-young were not dating after the show and were focused on their businesses. That describes the status reported at the time of that article; it should not be read as a current update about either person’s private life. A finale match and an ongoing relationship are separate claims.

The fair verdict
“Jin-seok should have picked Min-ji” works as a viewer’s counterfactual: a way to argue for a more appealing version of the season’s final pairing. It is not what happened in the finale, and the available evidence does not prove that Min-ji and Jin-seok would have been more compatible. On screen, Jin-seok chose Min-young; the alternative belongs to interpretation.
Netflix’s official listing describes Single’s Inferno as a dating series in which singles seek romance on a deserted island. That premise invites viewers to weigh the connections, but it does not make a finale choice proof of a lasting off-screen relationship.
