The first episode, titled “Freedom Day,” introduces Sheriff Becker. Apple’s episode description says his plans for the future are disrupted after his wife meets a hacker with information about the silo. It is a concise entry point into the show’s central mystery.
How many episodes are in Season 1, and when did it come out?
Season 1 has 10 episodes. Apple TV+ released the first two together on May 5, 2023, then released one new episode each Friday through June 30, 2023. Those dates describe the original rollout, not current availability in every country.

What book is Silo based on?
The series is based on Hugh Howey’s dystopian novel trilogy. Apple initially announced the project as Wool in 2021 and described the 2023 series as formerly known by that title. Wool is a relevant place to start if you want to explore the book behind the show; the adaptation connection does not by itself establish that Season 1 follows the novel exactly.
