As ACP Avinash Verma, he gives the Hindi murder mystery a steady lead investigator, though the film’s suspense is more persuasive than its police-procedural logic.

The official cast includes Bajpayee, Arjun Mathur, Prachi Desai, Barkha Singh and Shishir Sharma. ZEE5’s release announcement also names Sahil Vaid, Vaquar, Sohaila Kapoor, Amit Thakkar and Garima Yagnik. ZEE5’s film listing provides the synopsis and credits.
Does Manoj Bajpayee carry the mystery?
Verma is the decisive investigator, so the film depends on the character’s presence to hold its clues and shifting suspicions together. Bajpayee gives the role a composed center; his performance is the clearest reason to stay with the case when the screenplay’s investigative turns become less convincing.
#1 Best Overall
In a ZEE5 announcement published before the film’s release, Bajpayee said, “It’s a whodunit genre and I have never been part of this genre.” That production-era remark explains his interest in the role, but says nothing by itself about the finished film’s quality. Read ZEE5’s announcement.
How well does the plot work?
The murder investigation supplies the expected ingredients of a whodunit: a suspicious death, a circle of people with connections to the victim and questions about what happened. The setup makes room for suspense, and the case can hold attention as Verma and his colleagues pursue it. The film is less assured when those investigative steps need to withstand close scrutiny.

In The Indian Express review, updated 27 March 2021, Shubhra Gupta rated the film 2/5. She found the suspense effective and praised the distinct investigative trio, while arguing that glaring plot holes weaken the police procedural. That is the central trade-off: viewers drawn by Bajpayee and the unfolding mystery may be more satisfied than those who want every investigative move to feel tightly reasoned.
What did critics say?
Critical opinion is not uniform. Gupta’s Indian Express review is qualified, highlighting the lead and team dynamics while faulting the story’s logic. By contrast, Vatsal Thakore’s ZEE5 review, published 26 March 2021, praises the plot, suspense, performances, cinematography, editing and direction, and calls the film engaging and worth watching. That is the platform’s own editorial assessment, not evidence of a broader critical consensus.
Is Silence… Can You Hear It? worth watching?
It is a reasonable pick for viewers who want a Hindi whodunit led by Bajpayee and are willing to prioritize atmosphere and suspense over airtight procedural detail. The film’s investigative team and central performance give the case shape; its plot holes may frustrate viewers who judge mysteries mainly by the credibility of their clues and police work.
