Sid Eudy, the towering wrestler known as Sid Vicious, Sid Justice and Sycho Sid, died at 63. WWE announced his death on August 26, 2024. His son, Gunnar, said Sid had battled cancer for several years; a family statement reported by F4W/Wrestling Observer said he was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in April 2021.
Who was Sid Vicious?
Sid Vicious was the ring name of Sid Eudy, an American professional wrestler whose imposing presence and run of high-profile matches made him a prominent figure in 1990s wrestling. He also competed as Sid Justice and Sycho Sid. WWE lists him at 6 feet 9 inches and 317 pounds on its current profile.
WWE says Eudy signed with WCW in 1989 and later joined the WWF as Sid Justice. He was the special guest referee at SummerSlam 1991, according to WWE’s announcement of his death.
What cancer did Sid Vicious have?
WWE’s announcement confirmed Eudy’s death but did not identify a cause or cancer type. His son Gunnar said he had been fighting cancer for several years. In a statement reproduced by F4W/Wrestling Observer on August 27, 2024, Gunnar said his father was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in April 2021. That diagnosis and date are attributed to the family statement, rather than to a medical record released by WWE.

His championship record included major titles in both the WWF/WWE and WCW. The WWF was the company name during these 1990s events; WWE is its current name. WWE’s profile lists the following honors:
| Promotion | Honor | Record listed by WWE |
|---|---|---|

After returning as Sycho Sid, he stood in Shawn Michaels’ corner at WrestleMania XI before beginning a title rivalry with him. WWE says Sid beat Michaels for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series in 1996, then regained the title from Bret Hart on the February 17, 1997 episode of Raw. A catastrophic in-ring leg injury in 2001 cut short his championship aspirations, WWE’s profile says.
