Joey Graziadei chose Kelsey Anderson, not Daisy Kent, in The Bachelor season 28 finale. But if the question is whether Daisy had a compelling case, the answer is yes: she spoke plainly about loving Joey, noticed when she felt emotionally uncertain, and trusted her own reading of the situation. Those are reasons a viewer might have wanted him to choose her—not evidence that the relationship would have worked. Daisy later said she realized Joey was not right for her, which makes the most honest answer a counterfactual, not a claim that he picked the wrong partner.
Who did Joey choose on The Bachelor season 28?
Joey proposed to Kelsey Anderson, and she accepted. Daisy was the runner-up. ABC framed the season 28 finale, episode 11, around Joey’s decision between Daisy and Kelsey; TheWrap’s March 25, 2024, recap reports the proposal and acceptance.
That settles what happened. “Should Joey have chosen Daisy?” is a different question: a viewer’s judgment about the emotional signals shown in the finale, not a factual verdict on which couple would have lasted.
Why might a viewer have wanted Joey to choose Daisy?
She made her feelings clear
TheWrap’s recap says Daisy told Joey she loved him on their final date. A viewer could read that directness as a strong basis for choosing her: she was willing to say what she felt even as the decision approached. But declarations of love on a televised dating show cannot establish long-term compatibility, and they do not tell us what a relationship would have been like away from filming.

She paid attention to what felt wrong
Daisy also told Joey she felt she had received little validation after their date. The same recap describes Kelsey as feeling reassured after hers. That contrast can make Daisy’s uncertainty look like a reason to take her concerns seriously rather than dismiss them. It is still a recap of what the women expressed in the aired sequence—not an objective measure of Joey’s feelings or either relationship’s strength.
Her intuition gave the finale an unusually clear emotional moment
On proposal day, Daisy told Joey, “you’re not going to choose me.” According to TheWrap’s March 25 recap, Joey acknowledged her intuition before ultimately proposing to Kelsey. Daisy’s statement makes a compelling case for her as a perceptive, self-possessed finalist. It does not prove she wanted him to reverse the decision at that point, or reveal everything she privately felt.

What did Kelsey and Daisy each show in the finale?
The finale offers a limited comparison: what each woman said and how each described feeling after her final date. It cannot reliably predict how either relationship would have unfolded outside the show.
| On-screen question | Daisy Kent | Kelsey Anderson |
|---|---|---|
| How did she express her feelings? | TheWrap’s March 25, 2024 recap says Daisy told Joey she loved him. | TheWrap’s March 25, 2024 recap says Kelsey told Joey she could see a future together. |
| How did she describe the final date? | TheWrap’s recap says Daisy felt she received little validation. | TheWrap’s recap describes Kelsey as reassured after her date. |
| How did she respond as the choice approached? | Daisy told Joey she expected him not to choose her, according to TheWrap’s recap. | Joey proposed to Kelsey, and she accepted, according to the same recap. |
These details give a viewer material for an opinion, not a fair basis to declare that one woman was objectively more suitable. Kelsey’s expressed hope for a future and her acceptance of the proposal are part of the same finale record as Daisy’s candor and doubts.

What does the joint car ride add to the story?
Daisy and Kelsey arrived together at the proposal site, making the finale more than a simple contest between a winner and a runner-up. In a March 27, 2024 interview with TheWrap, Kelsey said, “We both wanted to be there for each other on that car ride, because it was a big moment.” Joey said he learned about their conversation after the engagement and was supportive: “That’s not my story, or my decision. They have their own stories, they should have the ability to craft that day into what they want as well … I’m going to be supportive of whatever these women decide to do.”
The moment shows care between the finalists as Joey described it; it does not establish that Daisy wanted him to choose her then. It also complicates a winner-versus-loser reading: the women had their own choices about how to meet that moment.

Does Daisy’s later perspective change the case?
Yes. In a March 5, 2026 report, Bachelor Nation quoted Daisy reflecting on the end of the show: “I think for me, the whole reason why I was so okay after I did the show was because the second I left, it felt like a huge weight got lifted off me and I was okay. And so right then I knew, okay, this isn’t the right person for me.”
That retrospective directly challenges the idea that Daisy was simply the one who got away. The same report said she had rekindled her relationship with college sweetheart Thor Herbst and become engaged to him. That is what the March 2026 report stated; it does not establish her relationship status today. More importantly to the hypothetical, Daisy’s own account does not endorse the idea that Joey was right for her.

So should Joey have chosen Daisy?
A viewer can reasonably say yes if the deciding qualities are Daisy’s openness about loving Joey, her willingness to name what left her uncertain, and the clarity of her prediction. Those traits made her a persuasive alternative in the finale. But the episode could not establish that choosing her would have produced a stronger relationship, and Daisy later said she recognized Joey was not the right person for her.
The fairest answer is that Daisy had a compelling case on screen, while the real choice was Joey’s to make and he chose Kelsey. The finale’s emotional contrast invites the hypothetical; it cannot settle what a different ending would have meant.
