Aaditi Pohankar anchors She season 2 as Bhumi balances undercover duty and attraction to Nayak. The performances appeal; the plotting is less convincing.

She season 2 is a glossy, sexually charged crime thriller built around a strong central performance—but, in Nandini Ramnath’s assessment for Scroll.in, its increasingly tangled plotting keeps the drama from landing as well as its lead does. Aaditi Pohankar’s Bhumi remains the season’s anchor as she tries to balance undercover police work with her growing attraction to drug kingpin Nayak.

What is She season 2 about?

The seven-episode season continues the story of Bhumika Pardeshi, known as Bhumi, a Mumbai constable working undercover against a drug operation. Her assignment becomes harder to separate from her private life as she grows drawn to Nayak, the kingpin at the centre of the investigation, while police colleague Jason Fernandez watches her movements with suspicion. Netflix’s episode summaries frame the season around that tension between duty, intimacy and the risks of maintaining her cover.

Imtiaz Ali created and wrote the season, and Arif Ali directed it. Netflix India announced its release for 17 June 2022. The series’ original setup—Bhumi sent undercover as a sex worker to infiltrate a cartel—comes from Netflix’s official synopsis; season two carries that premise forward rather than starting a new story.

Does the season work as a crime thriller?

A strong lead performance

For Ramnath, Pohankar’s performance is the season’s clearest strength. Bhumi’s movement between desire and duty gives the story its emotional centre, and Pohankar makes that shifting balance compelling even when the plot takes awkward turns. Ramnath also singles out Resh Lamba, who plays Durga, as a standout supporting performer.

Polish cannot solve the plotting

Ramnath describes the second season as glossier and more committed to its soft-core premise than the first. Bhumi’s styling changes visibly, and the production has an attractive sheen. But in Ramnath’s reading, that surface polish cannot conceal plot holes and narrative detours. The result is a thriller whose heightened eroticism and crime stakes can be engaging, but whose developments become increasingly unwieldy.

That split is central to the review’s verdict: the season’s performances and visual finish have appeal, while its writing and pacing make the journey less satisfying. The central question is not whether Bhumi’s evolution is worth watching, but whether the plotting gives that evolution enough room to feel coherent.

The Crown - Season 02
  • The Crown, created by Peter Morgan, follows Queen Elizabeth through the late 1950s and early '60s as she struggles to navigate a world that's changing around her. She must face the challenges of a new era, from the Suez Canal crisis to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, while preserving both the monarchy and her marriage.

Is She season 2 worth watching?

It is most likely to suit viewers who enjoyed the first season, want to follow Bhumi’s character arc, and are comfortable with a crime drama that puts sexualized material alongside its undercover premise. Pohankar’s performance gives the season a reason to continue; viewers who prioritize tight plotting may find the detours frustrating.

Season two assumes familiarity with Bhumi’s undercover work and the relationships around it. A review listed by Rotten Tomatoes, from Decider, advises new viewers not to jump in without prior knowledge; that is one critic’s recommendation, not a Netflix requirement. For a first-time viewer, season one is the natural place to begin.

What critics’ scores can—and cannot—tell you

A Rotten Tomatoes listing accessed in 2026 showed a 43% Tomatometer based on three critic reviews. That is a small, changeable snapshot of critics’ reviews, not an audience score or a reliable measure of what every viewer will think. The reviews listed there differ on whether Pohankar’s performance and Bhumi’s character development make up for weaknesses in writing and pacing.
