That was a milestone at the time—not the song’s final tally: its run ultimately reached 45 weeks.
What record did Shaboozey tie?
Billboard’s December 9, 2024, Country Update said: “The smash ties Morgan Wallen’s ‘Last Night’ for the longest Hot Country Songs rule (25 weeks) by a male artist this decade.” The wording matters: it was a tie for the longest run by a male artist during the decade, not a claim that the song already held the chart’s all-time record. How long was “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” No. 1 in the end?
The song’s completed Hot Country Songs run reached 45 weeks at No. 1. Billboard reported that total in its August 29, 2025, Country Update, describing it as the longest reign for a song by a single artist. The same bulletin identified Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be” as the overall chart leader, with 50 weeks at No. 1. So Shaboozey’s 45-week run exceeded the single-artist mark but did not surpass the overall record held by “Meant to Be.” Billboard Country Update, August 29, 2025.
When did the chart run begin?
Billboard Canada reports that “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” first reached No. 1 on Hot Country Songs on May 5, 2024. The 25-week tie was reported on December 9, 2024; Billboard later reported the final 45-week total in August 2025. Billboard Canada’s Shaboozey profile.

Which chart does the record refer to?
It refers to Billboard’s U.S. Hot Country Songs chart. It is not a Hot 100 record, a Country Airplay record, or a Canadian Hot 100 record. Those charts track distinct rankings and have separate histories, so their week counts should not be combined.
For example, the Associated Press reported in September 2026 that Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” had spent 23 weeks atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, surpassing earlier Hot 100 marks that included Shaboozey’s. That is later, separate Hot 100 context—not a change to the Hot Country Songs record. Associated Press, September 22, 2026.
