The closest matching 2026 opportunity identified is Sescanção 2026, a Sesc Sergipe call—not a nationwide “Sesc Sonoro” application. Its application period ended on July 26, 2026. The call was for interpreters and composers aged 18 or older who were born and/or lived in Sergipe, and it sought original repertoire. Sesc Sergipe’s call page lists the application dates and eligibility.
Can musicians still apply?
No. Sescanção 2026 accepted applications from July 1 through July 26, 2026. Its scheduled program period was September 22 through October 8, 2026. The call page’s “Status: Aberto” label should be read alongside its explicit deadline: the application window has passed as of October 8, 2026.
Who was eligible for Sescanção 2026?
Sesc Sergipe invited interpreters and composers who were at least 18 and born and/or resident in Sergipe to submit original repertoire. The call page linked two application categories: “Mostra dos Artistas Veteranos” and “Categoria Profissionais da Música.” The notice describes the selection as being for repertoire to make up Sescanção 2026 during its September 22–October 8 program period.
Is this a call for musicians across Brazil?
Not according to the available official call. Sescanção 2026 was limited by its stated Sergipe eligibility, so it does not support a claim that this application was open to musicians throughout Brazil. The “Sesc Sonoro” wording appears to conflate separate programs; the names and scope matter:

What is Sonora Brasil?
Sesc says Sonora Brasil was created in 1998 to present the diversity of Brazilian cultural production through commented musical performances. Its presentations are “essentially acoustic,” according to Sesc Departamento Nacional. The same page describes approximately 450 concerts a year in more than 100 cities, and says the 2026 edition brings four groups from different regions on a national circulation with performances, exchanges, and educational actions. Those details describe the program’s reach and format; they do not establish that a musician can apply through the Sescanção call.

What to check before applying to a future Sesc music call
- Confirm the program name. Sescanção, Sesc Sonoro Circuit, and Sonora Brasil are distinct opportunities with different formats.
- Read the eligibility and location terms. Sescanção 2026 specified birth and/or residence in Sergipe; Sesc Sonoro Circuit’s cited 2024 edital concerned venues in Paraná.
- Use the explicit deadline. A general status label should not override a dated application closing day.
- Check the official notice for the relevant edition. The cited Paraná edital is from 2024, while the national Sonora Brasil page describes its 2026 program; neither establishes another open application window for the call described here.
