A.B. Quintanilla apologized on April 28, 2024, after confronting the audience during his performance the night before at Tejano Explosion, a Fiesta concert event in San Antonio. He described the outburst as a “bipolar episode” and linked it to a recent cancer scare and pause in medication; those were his reported explanations, not a verified medical assessment.

What Quintanilla said in his apology
The next day, Quintanilla posted a video apologizing for his behavior. As quoted by the Express-News, he said, “I’m sad for my words and everything that went on in the concert.” He added: “From the bottom of my heart, I want to apologize to everybody, but at the same time, please have a little sympathy with me.”
His explanation—and what it does not establish
In the apology, Quintanilla called the incident a bipolar episode. He said a cancer scare and biopsy had led a doctor to suggest that he pause some medication, and that the pause affected his body and brain chemistry. He said the biopsy was negative. His account of the episode was: “I have not had any episodes whatsoever, but last night I did have one due to the fact that I did have to go through this cancer scare.”

Entertainment Weekly, in an account published by Yahoo Entertainment on April 29, reported that the apology video was later deleted from Instagram. The outlet also described a separate emailed comment from Quintanilla referring to a shooting at Fiesta that weekend. That comment was distinct from both his apology and his explanation about the medication pause. Entertainment Weekly via Yahoo Entertainment, April 29, 2024.
