What wedding decision did Selena Gomez make?
Blanco said the couple chose a rented palm tree farm and transformed it for the ceremony instead of opting for a conventional wedding atmosphere. In a September 8, 2026 episode of Friends Keep Secrets, he described the goal as doing “something unconventional” and said Gomez had imagined her wedding since childhood. iHeartRadio reported his account on September 10, 2026.
Blanco said Gomez wanted to walk down an aisle made of “Persian rugs off centered.” She also did not want “normal flowers” or a setting that felt “bougie,” he recalled. Those details come from Blanco’s retrospective account, rather than independent verification of each design choice.
They had already married in California
The decision was not about a wedding still to come. The Associated Press reported that Gomez and Blanco married in Santa Barbara, California, on September 27, 2025. After Gomez announced the marriage, Blanco responded publicly, “My wife in real life.” The AP report also noted their custom Ralph Lauren outfits.

How the decision fits the planning timeline
In March 2025, while they were engaged, Gomez and Blanco said their collaborative album was their immediate focus and that they were taking wedding planning day by day. That was an earlier stage of planning, not their status after the 2025 wedding. ELLE reported those remarks on March 17, 2025.
By September 2026, Gomez was speaking positively about married life, and Blanco described a low-key anniversary plan that might include watching the wedding speeches. ELLE reported the anniversary comments on September 16, 2026.
