Orphan Black began with Sarah Manning seeing a woman who looked exactly like her die—and discovering she was one of many. The five-season science-fiction drama became known for Tatiana Maslany’s many sharply differentiated clone performances and its ensemble of allies, family members and rivals. Here’s who the principal cast played, plus what the available record establishes about the franchise and selected later milestones.
Who was in the original Orphan Black cast?
The series follows Sarah Manning, a con artist and single mother who assumes the identity of Beth Childs after witnessing Beth’s death. Sarah soon learns Beth had been investigating other women who look just like them. Netflix Tudum’s cast guide and BBC Studios’ fifth-season announcement identify the principal cast and roles.

Tatiana Maslany and the clone characters
Maslany played Sarah and numerous other women, including Beth Childs, Alison Hendrix, Cosima Niehaus, Helena, Rachel Duncan, M.K. and Krystal Goderitch. Netflix Tudum says she had played 17 clones by the end of the five-season run; that is the guide’s count, not a claim that every character had equal screen time. Her performance earned the 2016 Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy, as reported by Netflix Tudum and AMC.
The wider ensemble
- Jordan Gavaris played Felix Dawkins, Sarah’s foster brother.
- Maria Doyle Kennedy played Siobhan “Mrs. S” Sadler.
- Kristian Bruun played Donnie Hendrix.
- Evelyne Brochu played Delphine Cormier.
- Ari Millen played Mark Rollins.
- Michael Mando played Vic, and Dylan Bruce played Paul Dierden.
BBC Studios’ fifth-season cast announcement also named Skyler Wexler, Kevin Hanchard and Josh Vokey. These are selected principal roles, not a complete cast list; billing and prominence varied over the series.

What happened after the original series?
The clearest documented “then and now” story is the franchise’s continuation, rather than a verified current-career update for every actor.
Orphan Black: The Next Chapter
The audio drama Orphan Black: The Next Chapter continued the story. BBC America reported on November 23, 2021, that season two was narrated by Maslany, co-produced by AMC Networks and Boat Rocker, and featured original cast members Bruun, Brochu and Gavaris. The announcement listed Realm and podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts at that time; it does not establish where the series is currently available. BBC America’s announcement has the dated details.
Orphan Black: Echoes
Orphan Black: Echoes is a new story in the same world, starring Krysten Ritter. In a July 24, 2024 interview, creator Anna Fishko discussed the characters Lucy, Jules and Celine and the series’ storyline. That interview documents the show and its creative direction; it is not evidence of a current renewal or present-day streaming availability. Read the AMC Talk interview.
Maslany’s documented later milestone
AMC announced Maslany’s return to the network for Invitation to a Bonfire, in which she played Vera Orlov and served as an executive producer. The announcement also recapped her Emmy win and her Orphan Black clone roles. It is a documented career milestone, not confirmation of her latest project in 2026. AMC’s announcement describes the project.

What can—and can’t—be said about the cast now?
The sources cited here do not establish a comprehensive 2026 update for every original cast member. They support specific historical roles, franchise projects and dated announcements, but not a reliable account of each actor’s current work, residence or personal life. For the same reason, older streaming and listening notices should not be read as a guide to what is available today.
For the series’ legacy, BBC Studios reported that Orphan Black received a Peabody Award in 2014 and recorded Maslany’s 2015 Emmy nomination. The series concluded with its fifth season; the show’s co-creators, John Fawcett and Graeme Manson, said they were “excited to deliver an epic conclusion to the tale of Sarah and her clone sisters” in the BBC Studios announcement.
