Weiqi shapes the story and its imagery
Weiqi, also called Go, is more than a passing reference in the publisher’s description: Yi Xing’s knowledge of the board game becomes central to the match and the effort to save Chang’an. The publisher also says the episode’s Chinese animation style reflects the game’s cultural heritage, particularly in its Weiqi sequences. Those details support reading the board-game motif as both a story device and part of the episode’s visual language.
Is the episode part of the game’s canon?
The sources establish a connection to the game through Yi Xing and the episode’s use of Weiqi, but they do not confirm that every event in the animated story is game canon. Nor do they provide a broader account of how the AI, the city’s crisis, or the match fits into the game’s lore. It is safest to treat the installment as an original animated story set in the Honor of Kings world, rather than assume its plot is a definitive account of the game’s continuity.
