Cassie Ventura testified about an approximately decade-long relationship with Sean Combs, describing alleged violence, control and sexual encounters with male sex workers. The jury later convicted Combs on two counts of transporting people to engage in prostitution, but acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and both sex-trafficking counts. He was sentenced to 50 months in prison on October 3, 2025.
What Cassie Ventura testified about
Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, an R&B singer and Combs’s former partner, testified at his 2025 federal trial about their relationship and encounters with male sex workers. Prosecutors referred to the encounters as “freak offs.” According to Associated Press reporting, Ventura said Combs directed the encounters and described the use of baby oil to maintain a “glistening” look.
These were accounts given in testimony, not findings that Combs was guilty of the charges related to them. The jury acquitted him of the sex-trafficking counts concerning Ventura and another former partner who testified under the name “Jane.” The acquittals do not establish that Ventura’s testimony was false; they are the jury’s verdict on the charges.
The Associated Press described Ventura’s courtroom demeanor: “Cassie, whose legal name is Casandra Ventura, sniffled and dabbed her eyes with a tissue, sighed heavily and paused to compose herself through about five hours of testimony at Combs’ sex trafficking trial.” (Associated Press, May 13, 2025.)

Why baby oil was mentioned
Baby oil came up in Ventura’s testimony and in reporting about items seized during searches. Reuters reported that authorities found roughly 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. That is an approximate quantity reported in 2025, not a judicial finding about how the products were used. Reuters described the items in its account of the evidence and prosecution’s case; the quantity should not be treated as proof of any particular charge.
The trial reference is about testimony and evidence, not a recommendation or endorsement of a product.

What happened to the male escorts
Male escorts were among the people discussed in testimony and were part of the broader evidence presented at trial. The Associated Press reported that 34 witnesses testified, including former partners, staff and male escorts. That count describes the trial’s scale; it does not mean every witness testified about the same events or establish the truth of any individual allegation.
The available reporting does not establish a single outcome for all the male escorts mentioned in the case. It is therefore more accurate to distinguish their presence in testimony from the jury’s verdict on Combs’s specific charges.

What the jury convicted Combs of—and what it did not
The jury found Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. It acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and of both sex-trafficking counts. The federal verdict was not a sex-trafficking conviction.
The verdict separates the jury’s findings from the prosecution’s theories and witnesses’ testimony. It does not justify treating allegations as proven on charges that ended in acquittal, or speculating about why jurors reached different outcomes on different counts. Reuters reported the verdict in its account of the jury’s decision.

Sentence and appeal
Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison on October 3, 2025. Reuters reported that prosecutors had sought a longer term and that the judge rebuked Combs while explaining the sentence. The imposed term was 50 months, not a sex-trafficking sentence.
The appeal is a later procedural stage and should not be confused with either the jury’s verdict or the sentence. The Second Circuit docket listing reports oral argument in case 25-2623 on April 9, 2026, but says it was last retrieved that day. The Associated Press reported that the appellate panel did not immediately rule and that judges questioned the sentence’s severity. Those reports establish an April 2026 argument, but do not establish the appeal’s status as of October 8, 2026. Associated Press coverage of the argument.
