The Washington Post reported that Macy’s and Marriott were named as co-defendants in complaints it reviewed; the reporting does not identify either company as a co-defendant in every case.
What the teen John Doe alleged about the 1998 White Party
The plaintiff said he was 16 at the time of the alleged incident. According to the complaint as summarized by the Associated Press, Combs allegedly told him to drop his pants, described the encounter as a rite of passage into the music business, and fondled his genitals. Rolling Stone reported that the complaint said Combs asked, “Don’t you want to break into the business?” The plaintiff said the encounter continued to cause humiliation and shame. How the lawsuits were brought
The six complaints were filed under New York’s Gender Motivated Violence Act, according to The Guardian. The plaintiffs’ lawyer, Tony Buzbee, described a group of more than 100 alleged victims pursuing legal action after Combs’ September 2024 federal arrest. That was the lawyer’s description of people pursuing claims, not a verified count of proven victims or successful lawsuits.
What Combs’ lawyers said
Combs’ lawyers said the press conference and hotline preceding the filings were “clear attempts to garner publicity.” They also said: “In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman.” The Guardian reported that the attorneys said they had confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process.

Were the allegations proven in court?
No finding of truth or liability is established by the October 2024 filing coverage cited here. The complaints contain allegations, and the lawyers for Combs denied that he had sexually assaulted anyone.
