io9 writer Germain Lussier picked 15 show-floor highlights from San Diego Comic-Con’s 2024 preview night. The selection ranges from collectibles and replicas to artwork and costume displays; it is a personal roundup, not an official ranking or a complete survey of the convention.
What the roundup covers
Published July 25, 2024, Lussier’s article records objects and displays he found during preview night that made him happy “for different reasons.” It spans film, television, comics, games, and science fiction. The 15-item count is his selection, not a convention-wide statistic, and the article does not claim objective judging criteria.
The list mixes toys, statues, and replicas with art, a constructed batsuit, and costume displays. It should not be read as a list of 15 items offered for sale. The original io9 roundup is available at Germain Lussier’s San Diego Comic-Con 2024 show-floor feature.
The 15 selected highlights
- Al from Toy Story 2 — Beast Kingdom. The toy comes with replica toys from the film.
- Batman and Superman — Iron Studios. The roundup highlights both characters from the studio.
- USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E — Factory. A starship model among the science-fiction selections.
- Alien: Romulus pulse rifle — Hollywood Collectibles. A replica tied to the film.
- Double Dragon piece — Syndicate. The selection represents the video-game franchise.
- A batsuit made from Batman figures. This is a constructed display rather than an ordinary suit or single figure.
- Godzilla. The roundup includes the iconic monster, without naming a maker for this entry.
- Carrie shadowbox — Daniel Danger. An art piece inspired by the film.
- Terminator 2 statue — Queen Studios. A statue based on the film.
- Librarian ghost bust from Ghostbusters — Elite Creature Collectibles. A bust of the ghost from the film.
- Jurassic Park T-Rex replica — Elite Creature Collectibles. The roundup also features the company’s dinosaur replica.
- Captain America: New World Order suits. This entry is a suit display, not a single collectible figure.
- The Legend of Zelda Lego minifigs. Lussier preferred showing the minifigures over the Zelda tree.
- The Stranger’s outfit from The Acolyte. A costume display from the series.
- Pip from The Acolyte. The roundup’s second selection from the series.
How to read the selection
The variety is part of the appeal: there are character figures and statues, franchise props and replicas, an artist’s shadowbox, a figure-built batsuit, and screen costumes. Lussier’s stated premise is personal enthusiasm, so the list offers a snapshot of what caught one reporter’s eye rather than a verdict on the convention’s best merchandise or displays.
