Scotty McCreery and Gabi Dugal married on June 16, 2018, in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. They had known each other since kindergarten and were dating for about six years when they wed. McCreery later shared footage from the celebration in the music video for “This Is It.”
A relationship that began in kindergarten
McCreery and Dugal first met as children in kindergarten in Garner, North Carolina. McCreery’s 2017 engagement announcement recalled their early connection; by the wedding, People described them as a couple of about six years. In that announcement, Dugal was identified as a pediatric cardiac nurse at Duke University Hospital at the time.

McCreery proposed in 2017 on a mountain trail in North Carolina that was a favorite of the couple, near Grandfather Mountain. The proposal connected their story to the region where they would later marry.
The June 2018 mountain wedding
The couple married on June 16, 2018, in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. McCreery described the wedding as taking place in the North Carolina mountains, while ABC News identified the Blue Ridge Mountains as the setting. The weekend festivities included a Thursday shrimp boil and a Friday rehearsal dinner.

People’s wedding report, republished on McCreery’s official site, said more than 200 guests attended. ABC News later described the reception as having roughly 200 guests; the accounts use different approximations rather than establishing a precise count.
Personal details from the celebration
Reports of the wedding described a black, white and gold palette, with greenery and white flowers. The couple exchanged personalized vows. Dugal wore a Morilee gown, according to People’s report; that is a detail of the 2018 event, not a current product recommendation.

Instead of a traditional large wedding cake, the couple served pies. McCreery and Dugal’s first dance was to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

McCreery performed “This Is It” at the reception. He had written the song before proposing to Dugal, and his official site said it tells the story of their engagement. In July 2018, he released the song’s official music video featuring footage from the wedding, in partnership with The Knot.

McCreery described the day in a statement on his official site: “Our wedding day was everything we wanted it to be, as Gabi and I celebrated our love and commitment to each other with family and close friends in the beautiful North Carolina mountains.” In an August 2018 interview with ABC News, he summed up married life this way: “Married life is awesome.”
