In a June 2024 interview, Sarah, an Australian creator known online as cowgirl6999, said she had expected OnlyFans work to bring easy money but instead was broke and had lost her house. Her account is a personal story, not an independently verified picture of her finances or a measure of what creators generally earn.
What Sarah said happened
PerthNow identified Sarah as 25 and reported her account of financial hardship. “I’m completely broke. I lost my house, and yeah, I’m just kind of failing at life at the moment,” she said. The report records her statement; it does not independently verify her financial circumstances.

Sarah also said the work had damaged friendships and family relationships. Those losses, like her financial account, were described in the reporting as her experience rather than established through independent records. PerthNow reported her account on June 20, 2024.
Why she started, and what she expected
Sarah said she entered “spicy work” expecting to make a lot of money and thinking it would be easy. “I initially got into spicy work because I wanted to make lots of money and thought it was going to be an easy job,” she told PerthNow.

In a separate report by News.com.au reproduced by Yahoo, Sarah described the plan as short-term: she hoped to use the money to start a business. That expectation helps explain the gap between the opportunity she imagined and the difficulties she later described. Yahoo’s reproduction of the News.com.au report provides that context.
How Sarah views the work and the industry
Sarah did not present herself as blaming the platform or industry for her decisions. “This is my fault. I made the decision to do this. It is not the industry’s fault,” she said.

At the same time, she challenged the idea that adult-content creation is easy money. She described a crowded market and the labor involved in keeping a fan base: “The general societal opinion seems to be that porn is easy money, but anyone who has spent substantial time in this line of work understands the oversaturation in the market and the amount of work required to maintain a fan base.” This is her assessment, not a measured finding about the market as a whole.
Creative control was part of her experience, too
Sarah also spoke about aspects of the work she found empowering. She said having control over her social-media presence and photography challenged shame and guilt surrounding sexual expression. In PerthNow, she described that control as “not only an act of empowerment but an act of protest against the cultural conditioning of shame and guilt around sexual expression.”

She said the experience had also strengthened her confidence in her artistic ability and prompted an interest in modelling and photography. Her account therefore includes both serious personal costs and creative motivations; neither should be mistaken for a universal account of creator work.
