Yes. Sony Pictures confirmed that Saoirse Ronan will play Linda (Eastman) McCartney in Sam Mendes’ Beatles film project. It is planned as four linked theatrical films—one from each Beatle’s perspective—with full theatrical release windows in April 2028, according to the latest official announcements.
Who is Saoirse Ronan playing?
Ronan is confirmed as Linda (Eastman) McCartney. Sony’s announcement describes Linda as a celebrated photographer when she met Paul McCartney in 1967. It also attributes to Paul McCartney the recollection, “The first time I saw her, I just knew.” That quote is McCartney’s, not Ronan’s; no statement from Ronan about the role appears in the official announcements cited here. Sony Pictures announcement.
What kind of Beatles film is this?
This is not one conventional biopic. Sam Mendes conceived four theatrical features, each told from a different Beatle’s point of view; the films are designed to intersect as one wider story. Mendes directs all four. He produces with Neal Street partners Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor, with Alexandra Derbyshire also named as a producer in the later casting announcement. Neal Street produces in association with Apple Corps for Sony Pictures. Sony Pictures project page; Sony’s 2024 announcement.
