The announcement marked a milestone in the strike, but it did not name all 80 games or mean that the later industry-wide Interactive Media Agreement had been reached.
What did SAG-AFTRA announce about the 80 games?
The union said 80 games had signed agreements during the strike, including interim and tiered-budget arrangements. SAG-AFTRA described the agreements as containing the AI protections it was seeking. The count refers to games covered by agreements, not a published roster of 80 named titles; the announcement does not establish that every agreement had identical terms. SAG-AFTRA’s September 5, 2024 announcement is the source for the figure and characterization.
Was a specific game named?
On September 4, 2024, SAG-AFTRA announced that Lightspeed L.A. had agreed to produce current and future games under an Interim Interactive Media Agreement, including Last Sentinel. This is a named example of a project under an interim agreement, not a complete list of the 80 or evidence that the game was representative of all the agreements. The union’s announcement about Lightspeed L.A. identifies the studio and game.
How did the number change?
On October 22, 2024, SAG-AFTRA reported that more than 120 games from 49 companies had signed interim or tiered-budget agreements. The union said those agreements included foundational AI protections. This was a later count than the 80 announced in September. SAG-AFTRA’s October 22 update provides the figure and its scope.

Were the 2024 agreements the same as the later industry deal?
No. The 2024 count covered games signed to interim or tiered-budget agreements. In June 2025, SAG-AFTRA announced a tentative Interactive Media Agreement negotiated with the video-game employers’ bargaining group. The union described informed-consent requirements for various AI uses and said performers could suspend informed consent for Digital Replica use during a strike. Those terms belong to the 2025 agreement and should not be assumed to describe every 2024 agreement. The union’s June 2025 announcement describes the tentative agreement.
| Agreement context | Who signed or negotiated | Timing and scale | AI provisions described by SAG-AFTRA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interim or tiered-budget agreements | Individual games or companies signing union agreements | 80 games announced September 5, 2024; more than 120 games from 49 companies reported October 22, 2024 | The union said the agreements carried AI protections it was seeking, and later described the interim and tiered-budget agreements as carrying foundational protections. The cited announcements do not establish identical language across all agreements. |
| Interactive Media Agreement | SAG-AFTRA and the video-game employers’ bargaining group | Tentative agreement announced June 2025; ratified by members in July 2025 | The union described informed-consent requirements for various AI uses and the ability to suspend informed consent for Digital Replica use during a strike. |
Did the 80-game announcement end the strike?
No. The 80-game announcement was a development during the strike, not its conclusion. The later tentative agreement was approved by SAG-AFTRA members in July 2025, with 95.04% voting in favor and 4.96% opposed. The union said ratification concluded the video-game strike, which had been suspended pending the vote. SAG-AFTRA’s ratification announcement reports the vote and outcome.

The union’s ratification announcement carries the statement.
