Sabrina Carpenter’s 2025 New Year’s resolution was to stop making dick jokes—but she added a punchline that made the promise sound difficult to keep. She posted the joke on Instagram on January 2, 2025, alongside snowy vacation photos with friends.
What was Sabrina Carpenter’s New Year’s resolution?
Carpenter’s reported Instagram caption read: “New year’s resolution no more dick jokes,” followed by, “It’s gonna be really hard.” The sexually suggestive wording is what makes the resolution NSFW; the vacation photos themselves were not reported as explicit. The Independent and NME both reproduced the caption.

The second sentence supplies the joke: it can be read as an immediate admission that giving up the jokes will be hard, while also sounding like another dick joke. That is why coverage described her as having broken the resolution almost as soon as she shared it.
When did she post it?
The post appeared on Thursday, January 2, 2025, according to The Independent. That is separate from the dates of the articles reporting on it: The Independent published its account on January 3, and NME followed on January 7. Both described a carousel of snowy vacation or ski-resort images with friends.

Was the resolution serious?
The caption is presented as a joke, but the reports do not establish whether Carpenter seriously tried to stop making that kind of joke or how long she kept the resolution. The punchline is clear; her intentions beyond the post are not.
There is some relevant context for the humor. Carpenter told Variety in a November 2023 interview, as quoted by The Independent: “Humor is such a healing part of my life. And I use it in everything — that’s how a lot of my songs happen.” The Independent also mentions a joke from her 2024 Saturday Night Live performance, but the resolution caption remains the central event.
