A documentary project from Whittaker Lemberg Productions plans to tell the story of Rowena “Bunty” Harker Leder, described by its makers as a former Bluebell Girl whose life took her from Yorkshire to international performance and airline work, and back to Yorkshire. The production materials say the film will draw on Leder’s book Love and Laughter Around the World, interviews and personal archives. These are project plans and the company’s account of her life; the available materials do not establish that filming or distribution is complete.
What the documentary project is about
Whittaker Lemberg Productions presents the film as both a portrait of Leder and a story about changing opportunities and expectations for women in the mid-20th century. Its outline traces a route from Yorkshire into performance and travel, then back to the region for arts work. The project page describes that arc, but its biographical details should be understood as the production company’s account rather than independently corroborated facts.
The campaign identifies Leder’s book, Love and Laughter Around the World, as the basis the documentary will bring to life. It also describes plans for interviews, use of her personal archive and licensing historical footage. Those plans do not confirm that the material has been filmed, digitised, cleared for use or incorporated into a finished film.
The life outlined in the production materials
From Yorkshire to the Bluebell Girls
According to Whittaker Lemberg Productions, Leder joined the Bluebell Girls and performed in Las Vegas in 1958. The project outline uses this episode as an early turning point in a life spent moving between places and kinds of work.

Beirut and BOAC
The same outline describes a later year in Beirut, followed by work as a BOAC airline stewardess. The accessible project account does not provide further independently confirmed detail about the timing or circumstances of these transitions.
Return to Yorkshire and festival work
The production company says Leder returned to Yorkshire and served as Artistic Director of the Grassington Festival for 18 years. That is a claim in the project materials, not an independently verified biography in the accessible sources.

What is planned—and what is not yet confirmed
The production page proposes interviews with Leder and surviving Bluebell Girls and airline colleagues, alongside her personal archive and licensed historical footage. The Crowdfunder campaign also describes filming, witness interviews, archival preservation and footage licensing as part of the project. These pages describe intended work; they do not establish that interviews have been recorded, archival materials preserved, rights secured or a release date set.
The headline has also appeared in an Albuquerque Journal-attributed aggregator result, but the accessible result did not include the original article’s text or publication date. It therefore cannot confirm reporting beyond the production and campaign descriptions.
